So my wife has pretty much banned me from ever being at a public establishment without shoes if she is with me. I have to say, my marriage is more important than my barefootedness, so yeah. Wondering what's a good option when I absolutely must have at least something under my feet. I have some Old Navy flip flops that have a fabric upper surface, but also have molded arch supports that have become rather painful for me since I started going BF. I also have some cheap rubber flip flops with rubber thong straps that always tend to slip out from under my feet and are rather awkward to walk with. What else would y'all suggest? Some type of huarache with leather footbed maybe? I'm thinking something like that, which doesn't "flop" around when walking would be better.
In my opinion, the Bedrock Sandals are the best huaraches you can get. If you ever try these, you never want to 'walk' on flap flups again.
These are what I wear when it has to be shoes: They are actually aqua shoes but since they all the same color they look like just another shoe. Very easy on bare feet too! http://www.zappos.com/body-glove-men-shoes/CK_XAVIClw3AAQLiAgMYAQo.zso
And the medieval Europeans knew, too... very close to being barefoot are "Bundschuhe" (drawstring shoes), made from one piece of leather: They mold themselves to the shape of your feet, and (I noticed that, when wearing them in wet conditions) you will leave footprints looking like you're barefoot... When treating them right (keeping them well-greased so that the leather stays supple), they can last a few years... and if they wear thin underfoot, even to the point of holes opening under the balls of your feet, you have two options: leave it as it is, doing partly hidden barefooting or going to a cobbler and have him glue a piece of leather onto the bottom. I've worn them in frosty conditions, too, my feet embalmed with bag balm and they stayed warm. Plus: the bag balm also helped in greasing up the leather of those shoes, too. Wiggling bare toes (preferring to bare them all the time - but those stoopid social demands... *sigh*), ~*Ganesha*~
As a married guy who actively "feels your pain," how 'bout barefoot sandals? I managed 2 weeks in Spain (WITH my wife) continuously baresoled. AAAhhhhhh....
red leather african flip-flops, partially made of tires and other garbage. one, they're so minimalistic as footwear. two, it's the work of artisans , not machines and they're unique pieces, those black guys sell them in heaps and i never found one pair equal to one other. three they break easily, offering extra pretexts to stay bf, i fixed them half a dozen times and i like sewing and customizing them. four, they fit in my back pockets. sometimes i have a feeling for my old boots and i try to slip them on but since my shod days my feet grew in width of a couple of sizes so usually i go out in boots and return home barefoot because after a couple of hours they start to hurt like hell.
Tandy Leather stores, Hobby Lobbies and Michael's Craft Shop sell a kit version of this for less than $20. It does not take more than an hour to make a pair.
dude seriously? My wife is infinitely more important to me than going barefoot. Anyway I really like these Pah Tempe sandals from Unshoes - every pair individually custom hand-made based on tracings of your feet. If only they weren't 60 big ones. http://www.unshoesminimalfootwear.com/pahtempe.html
It Was A Joke, I Even Started The Post, "If I Was In Your SHOES".... Sorry It Was Lost On You...:chillpill::chillpill: Cheers Glen.
I own a pair of Unshoes Wokova Feather, which are better looking than the Pah Temple in my opinion. But if you order a pair of Unshoes Pah Temple for 60 dollars you get good value for your money.
