Starting Jan. 6th he'll have a "Variety Show" on Fox News as a contributor, whatever that means. Could have the potential of a providing a few laughs.
Disgusting... how can the media be a government watchdog when politicians are part of it? God, I hate FOX News.
Fox News was created to be anything other than a respectable "watchdog". It's a propaganda tool for the hard right agenda, full stop. Considering that Fox News even won the right in a Florida court to "lie and misinform the public", any politician even remotely associating with it or anyone linked to it should find their political careers at an end. One day, the nation might even wake up and realise this, though i wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that day.
Yes, most definitely. Rupert Murdoch disgusts me. And what really sucks is the fact that FOX News will certainly use this opportunity to say, "Look! We have a Democrat on our network! See? We're not biased! We're fair and balanced!" Pff...
Sen. Miller is leaving the Senate. His time at Fox begins Jan. 6th. I guess I'd rather have them in front of a camera. Easier to keep an eye on them. Out of sight - out of mind. Usually they remain in Washington becoming Lobbyist and consultants. In which case it would be interesting to see what Sen. Daschle's wife does now. She was/is a lobbyist for the Airline industry. Until the former Sen. gets a new gig, they'll have to rely on only her paycheck.
I get the feeling that this is going to be funny as hell. Miller is such an idiot that it has to be funny. I wonder who the first guest on that show is gonna be?
You people say how FOX is nothing but a tool of the hard right, but you don't complain about CNN or CBS.
I never watch CNN or CBS so I don't really know. I only watch fox every now and then when I need something funny to laugh at.
They're not comparable. While CNN may have more liberals than conservatives on its staff, it does a pretty good job of showing as many sides of issues as possible. CNN doesn't spew hate-filled propaganda over the airwaves. If it occasionally displays a liberal bias, it's because the reporters unwittingly reveal their personal bias...not because CNN has a liberal agenda. Furthermore, CNN has a lot of intelligent, respectable conservatives on its reporting staff (probably more than FOX). FOX doesn't have a single intelligent, respectable liberal (actually, intelligent and respectable people in general are hard to find on FOX News). It has Alan Colmes. Also, FOX's problem isn't merely in its bias...it also dumbs down the news a la USA Today, and it distorts the facts on a regular basis a la The Drudge Report.
lately I have been listening to the BBC news on teh radio and really like how they do it, they cut out a lot of the bullshit that the american media feeds us and there is a lot of stuff on the BBC that I never see mentioned on the news or in the paper.
I absolutely agree with you. I think the British media does a much better job than the American media. In the United States, the only "international coverage" on the media is reporting on the deaths of American soldiers in Iraq. Also, the British media doesn't seem to have as many news non-stories, such as the Scott Peterson trial and the supposed wave of kidnappings in summer 2003.
I find it funny when people are still arguing about fox vs cnn. Per example, the other day, last week. CNN announces there will be some great news from Ohio later in the program. I waited patiently, could it be? There going to give it some real coverage? Well, turns out the big news was that a giant plastic Sponge Bob had been returned to a BK there somewhere. They were overjoyed at the return of the plastic mascot. Yes, folks that was the great news from Ohio. Sponge Bob has returned.
"You people say how FOX is nothing but a tool of the hard right, but you don't complain about CNN or CBS." Like a protestor told me on march 20, 2003 when i marched in NY, "Cnn sucks, CBS sucks, NBC sucks, ABC sucks, and FOX REALLY sucks" Peace and Love, Dan
If a business, any business, does not service its customers, they tend to go out of existance. CBS, CNN, Fox News, whoever, has carved a market niche whom they serve. It is obvious each of the news channels not only slant the news fitting their interpretation of events but also which way the slant leans. We do have many alternative sources of news to access. If an extreme example of a slant is wanted, try: http://www.kcna.co.jp/index-e.htm The North Korean News Agency are always good for a few chuckles. Also consider the North Koreans have only one news source. The distinctive slant of their news source is at least openhanded, to us foreigners.
