Does it scare you to think about living without fear?

the only true fear i live with is fear that my loved ones will suffer something i could not bear. other than that i can say i am pretty much free from fear i live with self loathing much more than fear physical pain death sickness poverty the infinite unknown its all more intriging than scary there is that basic instinct that happens in fight or flight situations to me that is more an excited reaction, an adrenaline rush, but my true fears like my little sister being kidnapped and rape/murdered that fear has kept me awake countless nights i try to block it out because i really dont have control over what happens to others but thats the world we live in and it happens every day. all suffering is impermanent so truly fear the only thing to fear. however it does keep us safe but it also can cage you

Fear is a survival mechanism that prevents you from walking up to a grizzly bear and slapping him in the face. Once you gain wisdom and know your enviroment then their is little need for fear.

Adrenaline is often misinterpreted as fear. Learn to accept the difference and you'll notice it's not a hinderance, and instead helps you deal with the more 'terrifying' moments in a persons life.

  6. I am all for downplaying fear. You've got to be confident in yourself; you can't let even death stand in the way, if your personality happens to be at odds with someone else's point of view. So no, I'm not afraid to that extent.

I guess I'm not afraid of living without fear to the extent of possibly being eaten by a grizzly bear, as well, 'cause what's pain without fear?

allowing fear into your life gives the fear control of your life. the lack of fear is the presence of true personal freedom.

    ummmm... Pain without fear.

Just because i'm not afraid of the stove doesn't mean that it won't be painful if I put my hand on a steaming hot pan coming off of it that I grab.

  10. I'm not sure about that; it might not be painful if you don't have the capacity to feel fear. Could you know a hot pan hurts and continue grabbing it?

Fear and panic are definately two different things. Judging with a reasonable perspective. How you react to a situation should depend on wisdom.

Pain occurs in the first instance, then fear is the ingrained reaction to the situation from then on because your mind wants to avoid the pain.

I learned about the Alexander Technique and how to hold my head so as not to start the automatic fear reflex action

i think to a certain extent you must have fear in your life.
to live without fear, you would do ANYTHING. and anything can include doing things that will harm you.
i guess self-control is a sort of fear, and its a fear that i believe to be necessary in life.

It depends on if you get stuck in fear. It produces stress when we stay stay stuck. Energy vampires do feed on fear. I try not to do things that could harm me or anyone else not out of fear it is just common sense to not deliberately cause harm.

Balance is the key to living well I think. Blessed are the flexible for they shall never be bent out of shape.:)

Fear lets you know that you are alive , and that you want to stay that way.
