I've had significantly weird things having to due with sleep for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I had a very big fear of the urban legend character "Bloody Mary" and I slept with my mom for years, probably up until I was 12 because I'd have these incredibly intense nightmares about her (bloody mary) to the point where i'd actually wake up and hallucinate things such as my covers being pulled down my body or the bathroom door opening.. and I say hallucinate because I WAS awake while this was happening. As I've gotten older the nightmares have gotten worse and worse. They are no longer about "Bloody Mary" (even tho just typing the name gives me the heebie jeebies) but they continue to plague me. Sleep 'paralysis' is probably the worst of all. If anyone has experienced it you'll know its absolutely TERRIFYING! I have had it over 5 times in one night. I also lucid dream almost everytime I dream. I have reoccurring dreams and remember dreams that I had years and years ago. There was two times that I actually saw something in real life that I remembered having a dream about (NOT dejavu, they were buildings I randomly saw in my dream). There are certain people I always dream about and others, even if i see them everyday, I don't dream of. I have an older sister who is the sweetest person ever but I always dream that she is killing me. I'm a known sleep walker and talker. I can sleep for days and I can stay awake for days. I realize that a lot of my dreams are based on anxiety, subconscious feelings, and previous thoughts during the day, but I just feel like things that happen to me when I sleep aren't normal.. I don't even sleep anymore because I'm scared to. I think it'd be important to mention the fact that I am an "alcoholic", even tho saying that is weird b/c i am only 18, but I drink almost everyday and I know nightmares/night terrors are a symptom of withdrawal. Just something in my gut tells me that the things happening to me aren't normal, but they might be.. Idk. Any advice or insight?
1 quit drinking 2 try getting acupuncture. I think excessive dreaming is treatable. you might also be able to do an acupressure massage before bedtime that could help 3 try meditating 4 maybe go to therapy
There is a fear in your subconscious some where . You can use hypnosis or self hypnosis to get to it and let it go, new age book stores have cds , dvds , mp3s are on the net . As to seeing real things in a dream , we all go out of body at night , astral project , but only remember it as a dream http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astral_projection . It is possable that a demonic being is causing this and you need to get rid of it . Drinking wont help , what ever the cause . desert rat
If you are lucid dreaming most times, as you say you are, why not take control of the dreams and do something/go somewhere more pleasant... control is an option if it's lucid dreaming. And yeah, lay off the drinking.
There is nothing weird about your condition, other than the fact you are expecting an answer more professional than the ones you can get from a doctor. In this case, I would recommend that you try LSD.
ahaha, if you can't tell already from this post i have a very active imagination which causes me to think it would be ALOT more active onLSD. nice suggestion tho, really!
I totally understand how you feel i have suffered from sleep paralysis all my life and it can be terrifying, but as suggested in an earlier reply if you lucid dreaming ( a luxury I don't have) you can take control of your dreams and confront your demons in fact if your lucid dreaming that much you can pretty much do what you like in your dreams, when a dream goes dark all of a sudden ive realised that a split second before it goes pear shaped im thinking about it going dark in a nutshell we almost create what we dream hope this has made some sense,oh and mediation has helped me a bit, and regular sleep patterns.
