Kisses on the Bottom is the sixteenth studio album by Paul McCartney, his first since 2007's Memory Almost Full. It was released on Hear Music on 7 February 2012 on LP and CD format.
As Lennon would have put it, "Buncha granny music Paul!" Meh.... €-€ No, nope, no sir I don't like it.
Bought it. It's beyond rubbish. It's such a shame because his contribution to the 'Rave On Buddy Holly' album late last year was awesome. I keep buying his music but it is getting harder and harder to justify these days. Apparently he is planning a 'Hard Rock' album later this year. I'll probably give that a go, but it'll probably be the last one if it disappoints again.
I do agree with that. It's a shining light among a lot of grey. "Flaming Pie" was awesome, everything from that point hasn't been great with the exception of "Electric Arguments". Maybe it is the case that Paul needs a collaborator? Obviously he had one within The Beatles. With "Flaming Pie" Paul was enthused by the Anthology project, but most of his other great stuff has been with collaborators. I think back to his stuff with Elvis Costello, and also Electric Arguments was also a collaboration.
No surprise there.... The good times ended in the late 80s.... NOTHING BUT CRAP BEING RELEASED NOW AND ITS SAD.......
Personally I think there's some pretty harsh words for this album. You have to realize that this is a standards album he did with old tunes he'd listen to his parents play when he was a kid. This is the music he was into before he discovered rock. This is more for a Frank Sinatra-type crowd. Just look at the fancy promos. I've heard a couple songs. Nothing exceptional, but it's good for what it is. In fact, I should listen to the whole thing to give a better assessment but I haven't heard anything that would make me give harsh criticism. I look forward to him bringing out an album like "Electric Arguments" again. I love how he went back to his psychedelic roots on that. And he did say that he plans to be experimenting with more tape loops soon with the same machine that created the sounds for "Tomorrow Never Knows". EDIT: Plus, he played an amazing live show when I saw him this past summer. Seriously, don't discount the dude. He's still got it. "Kisses on the Bottom" is a detour.
I have totally stop following Paul's music career. He dosen't push himself and his music creatively anymore, which really is a shame. But sixteenth studio album good for him
"Electric Arguments" man. "Electric Arguments". Opens with a heavy rocker, and delves into psychedelia in the second half. The surprising thing is that each song was individually written and recorded, from scratch to finish, in one day. Paul needs to stop trying to act commercial, and just make the music he wants without a care like he did on that album. Because ironically enough, THAT'S the music Paul and Beatles fans want to hear. At least that's how it is for me. It blew my mind he could still record something like that. Eh, yeah. Ringo and the 21st century should have never met. No, I'm glad he's alive, I mean it's just the choice of production used on his songs. Too digital and cheap for my ears. But at least he's doing what he loves, and I'm glad for that. I remember hearing the Liverpool 8 song, and it was eh a nice attempt. "Octopus' Garden" remains his classic, and "Don't Pass Me By" has great production and instruments. And then of course all the songs Lennon/McCartney wrote for him.
