My name is Kalanu. Here's the deal. It's not really a new plan, and it's not even a new idea, but this summer the Gypsy Theatre Caravan is actually going to happen. I hope no one minds, but I had to scrap almost this entire post. Plans have been changing, streamlining perhaps you might say, and so I wanted this thread to stay up to date. I have a vision for a travelling radio play, and given a different set of circumstances (which might even at some point come about), it would be simple to pull off and brilliant. But I'm a lone nomad again, and I no longer have the vehicle (and trailer and gear, etc) that would have made it simple. But now it's even simpler. BobbinBecca has offered a play, and I'll be looking at it when I get to West Yellowstone to sit with the Buffalo. (www.buffalofieldcampaign.org). So, to make a long story short, I'll be at the Ocala gathering, and will be singing the heartsong there, and seeing what happens to the idea. I think if I keep my ambitions simple (which is easy when I'm on the road), it will develop organically a community project. So here's the vision now. We travel from venue to venue this summer, perhaps pre-booking, perhaps just showing up and finding a place to set up our little circus, keeping it rainbow but keeping it sane enough to be inclusive, dishing out the play, music, performance art, etc, making it a (mostly) comfortable evening out for people. At a later date I'll ramble on about why I think it has to be like that, but I'll spare you for now. Accomadations will be camping in the National Forest (if that hasn't been made illegal by then) and whatever private land we can arrange. Route is West to East, Rockies to Northeast Coast. If you would like to be involved, email me at dreamerbiodiesel@yahoo.com kalanu
Things are getting shaky here, and it might have to happen in the U.S., but if I can arrange it for canada were doing West to East, stops undetermined yet, but Manitoba is on the list.
