Aging beer

    So this is a post for you beer connoisseurs. If you were not aware you can age beer to improve flavor, just as wine. The only standards are that it is above 8% abv or more. As a general rule imperial stouts age beautifully while ipas do not. The reason being hops don't age well and lose flavor generally ruining ipas. I have an imperial ipa with 10 malts and 10 hops. I figured the malts would age well. I have 3 of these aging so I cracked one open. Only 3 months has drastically changed this beer! It has gone from very bitter, very boozy and overwhelmingly hoppy to smooth chocolate, caramel and almost no hops! So surprised such a short time has done so much. Can't wait to see what happens with the rest.
