I would say no, it's more fun and interesting when it's a partner you legitimately like for one reason or another (talents, humor, looks?, or anything else about the person in question) a prostitute could feel uncomfortable and possibly intimidating, though just have some confidence and go out meet people who are interested in the same things as you, and either them, or a friend they know maybe interested immediately thereafter, so give it time and you'll be fine.

This is a cool topic [sort of] I have actually begun a short novel of what life would be like if a person didn't actively pursue sex. Would they get any ? What if a man was still a virgin at say age 40, how would people deal with it ?

In this novel about the person [male] never loses his virginity, simply because he doesnt try. He's a kind hearted person, good-looking, smart, and semi-sucsessful [not rich/middleclass sucsess] ... he's not reilgious, spiritually active [studies books] dabbles in the occult a bit, but he is actually a misfit amongst misfits.

He is interested in "real love" ot "true-love" as they call it, and goes through life waiting for it to happen. He pursues it in the sense of being a super guy, giving, loving, respectful, kind, educated, he has a very strong sense of integrity and always acts on it, but never finds love and so doesnt have sex.

He moves frquently in his work so most people have no idea of his virginity, those that find out usually make such a huge deal about it that they ruin their friendship with him, and he even moves from some nice homes to avoid these situations, which in some cases become very nasty.

All of the psychological issues of women [and mankind] come out in technicolor in this story, vanity, manipulation, neurotic-insecurities, and pretty much every mental-illness in the dictionary arise because he is unknowingly on a hero-quest for true love and fails to find it. The result being his learning in life surpasses most people's including the psychologists he sees, who are amazed by his knowledge like the rabbis with jesus.

He has grown spiritually into this man of great wisdom which in his 50s does finally lead him to riches simply because he has developed an ability to predict so many of society's mechanisms including market trends that by 54 he is a billionaire.

This however though providing a brief excitment does not help his quest for true-love, and with riches comes notoriety and fame, and if word ever gets out that he is a virgin, this will create an uncomfortable situation.
