but sends the text/invite Friday night itself.
He knows I live far as fuck off campus, and 10pm on a friday saying "yo where you at? let's go to the bars!" is not enough of a heads up (I also don't drive), so I've had to decline both times.

I actually let him know this time his lazy timing/consideration does me no good (in a nice way).

Was I being over dramatic? Is this shit normal (to have to explain/defend yourself, on something so basic)?

I'm surprised I even have to say something like this to a grown man. What would you have done?

in my experience, the last minute invite is pretty much the norm in college. that said, i see no reason not to explain to somebody that the reason you always turn them down is because they make it pretty much impossible for you not to do so.

As far as partying goes, for people living on campus there may be no plans until seconds before they happen, being very spontaneous is the norm. Especially if he was already drinking, which was probably the case..... He found himself in need of more comrades, and went through his contact list, is all.

Yeah I pretty much get 'come hang tonight' last minute texts most nights.

Yesterday a chick texts me at about nine and asks me to come drop acid and go to a show, and that she'd pick me up in ten minutes... Lol...

I declined anyway because thats a little too wild for a thursday night!

next time you see him you should ridicule him and oust him from the group for breaking your rules

the way i see it, making plans only for the next day makes them become appointments and consequently boring

no big deal, he invited you, you couldnt go ... thats it

I think neither of you is doing anything wrong, it may simply show an incompatibility of purposes.
