I imagine the whole concept of the Borg could potentially fuck with someone's head while on acid. I think the protocols could be seen as an allegory for cultural programming, and the whole system amounts to one individual mind sociopathically stripping away the individuality of other people and incorporating them into its own self. It could really be eluding toward any type of ideology. Whether its religion, fascism, communism, capitalism, eugenic, or nationalistic, if it treats people as mere objects for its own ends, then a borg metaphor could apply. It prides itself as being the savior of all sentient life, when, in reality, it just amounts to one individual efficiently controlling other individuals for its own ends. Its like the ultimate ego trip. It could easily apply to multinationals exploiting third world labor or North Korean government officials exploiting their own people. Both pat their selves on the back and think of their selves as doing such a good thing by giving their poor labor force enough rice to barely scrap by for the hours and hours of intensive labor they put in while their kids attend universities and they have all the luxuries life has to offer. ...and more importantly, while they get to retain much more of their individuality, while everyone else has to conform to them, much like the borg queen who benefits the most from the cultural protocols of the hive.
not really that one in particular, though there are some Data TNG episodes where hes dreaming, thinking human like- goes on an (acid trip),,geordi la forge plugs him into the ships engine core: I believe and Data passes out, he then starts tripping dreaming and wants to do it again geordi la forge warns him how dangerous it may be.. Data states he understands the risk and wants to trip again.. I always love those Phillip K Dick inspired TNG episodes where they look into the nature of consciousness. I'll have to look that one up. I used to have all the episodes till my HD crashed. Sadly, I didn't get to watch most of them.
I'm pretty sure the Borg were created by the Trek writers while they were tripping. I mean, come on - there is no "I", all are linked into one consciousness, all thoughts are experienced by each other. The borg is the acid trip made reality.
yes, but Huge becomes self aware.... I get really pissed off, when listening to Admiral Nechayev suggest Picard should of killed the borg when he had the chance.

I wonder if any male admiral would have suggested killing off Seven of Nine... I mean, even in the 23rd century, hormones still are hormones. :smilielol5: Wiggling bare toes, ~*Ganesha*~
I could be remembering wrong but I'm pretty sure one of the TNG writers admitted in an interview once that the Borg were originally going to be giant insects that reproduced by infecting other species and turning into space bugs themselves. Basically copying the Brood from X-Men. When it couldn't be done on the show's budget they just ripped off another group of X-Men villains the Phalanx. The Phalanx being a race of cybernetic organisms that assimilate other species and make them a part of their collective consciousness. Of course I could be full of crap too.
Seriously tho', wherever the idea was ripped off, the Borg is a great concept, and FIRST CONTACT is a fun movie to watch over and over again, tripping or not.
Been a while since I had acid or microdots. But i recallone night watching one ep of the originap series, forger the name, but the one with the alice in wondeland characters and spock gets a facial from a poisonous plant. The rabbit in that really fucked with my head. And the TNG ep in first season Contagion, when the commanders head explodes and the alien pops put, star trek made for acid
