I am also a CPP who is on hydrocodone to my pain. I'm having a steroid injection into my lower lumbar spine area on Thursday so hopefully this will help lower my pain a good amount cause I'm really getting tired of being in this much pain. Welcome to the opiate forum! Hopefully I will be chatting with you soon. P.S. If you would like check out my "what is your favorite opiate? (pain management only)" I'd love to get your opinion on the matter. Oh and how long have you been in PM?
I hope it works for you. I had 2 epidural injections in my back, and then a spinal fusion, which did no good either. I'm just trying to manage my pain now with meds.
I am happy to see a whole new wave of members here on the Opioids subforum to talk about responsible opioid use. We were running dry of good members for a little while when some of the old favorites left, but it seems like some cool people have joined up.
Good luck with the cortisone shots. I'll have good thoughts for you and send positive energy for your quick recovery. Just been on the percecet so far. Have an anal doc about that. Tried me on hydro once did nothing for pain and made me nauseous.
I still like ocycontin along with oxycodone IR for breakthru pain. Seems to work best for me anyways.
Well I'm in a good bit of pain right now but the shot is supposed to be starting to kick in tomorrow. I hope this shit helps cause I've taken a ton of meds and I'm still in a lot of pain.
I feel your pain on that. I had a few of those shots (cervical and lumbar) and the the day after can be a lot worse. After a day or two you you should start feeling better from the injection. I always had a slightly longer recovery because I had strong reactions to the cortizone. I hope you will get good results. It's the third day since I had the radio frequency (lumbar). The procedure itself wasn't so bad because I was put under for it. The post op pain is not fun at all. Starting to get some relief now. Don't know how much pain relief the RFA will give yet. Doc says that it could take up to 3 weeks to feel the full effects. If it works I am told the pain relif can last up to a year. The next step will be to repeat on the other side.
Well it's been the 7 days for the shot to kick in fully and I'm still in a lot of pain so it doesn't seem these have helped much. Kinda bummed I really wanted these to lower my pain but yet again nothing works and I'm still in pain.
Sorry to hear shot didn't help much.My pain management doctor keeps trying to talk me into different surgeries and procedures and swears it'll stop my pain or dramatically reduce it,while my regular doctor tells me "Don't let him do that,it doesn't work like they say it does!". I know if I did have surgery and it didn't work,I'd be way bummed out.As things are ,75mg Fent patches, 6 30mg Oxycodone, and 500mg tramadol only gets me to about a 6 on his pain scale at the best, and I'm almost maxed out on pill dosage by PM's "rules".And that 6 is only by not doing much,if I try to be normal and do a lot of stuff,I risk laying in the bed cryin' at the end of the day,'cause the pills aren't enuff. But I hope you find something that really helps and for the long term, soon. We're all rootin' for ya.
I am feeling like DEATH THIS MORNING! I need more medication! I'll be ok till Monday just not fun. I'm sorry to hear your in my position to I wouldn't wish chronic pain upon my worst enemie......well maybe my worst....nah just kidding it's the worst thing that has ever happened to me and I really wish the pain would just go away and let me be. But it's doesn't work like that with pain SEE! Hahaha a rhyme.
I was hoping they'd work for you. But they didn't work for me either. Nor surgery. I still have pinched nerve roots with sciatica. And I saw your other post where you rated your pain at a 6, and that's where mine is if I don't really do anything. And that's with meds. If, for example I'm on my feet for a half hour, which is my max, it's at 8, and it stays there until I can sit or lay down to let it decompress. When this first started back in 2000 I bought a portable infrared heat-treatment device from QVC. It looked like a cross between a flashlight and a sex toy. Anyway, I was in so much pain one night that I laid on the floor, turned this thing on to medium and held it to my lower back for about 2 hours and ended up with a 3rd degree burn. The pain from my back was so bad that I literally couldn't feel that thing burning me. That's how it can get.
Yea I could believe that man. When I went to phisical therapy i had them turn the heat blankets as hot as they could get them with as little wrapping on them as possible with my shirt pulled up and they would be like are you sure you wanna do this? Hahaha but yea I dunno I'm just having a hard time mainly at night sleeping and in the mornings getting going. It literally takes me at least 2-3 hours to get going in the mornings i can't stand it. I need an ER med. I really wish zohydro would hurry up. I don't care if I can't snort it or shoot it I just want my pain to go from 6-8 every single day. I have my hydro 10s but it would be nice to have something ER for night time at least. I dunno pain sucks.
Mine isn't quite as bad laying down at night as it is standing or even sitting for long periods, but of course that depends what I did during the day. If I'm on my feet too much even laying down all night doesn't calm it down much. And it's on both sides. Sometimes my legs will just go numb from standing. But it's that sciatic butt pain I don't like. It's like somebody came up from behind and stabbed me in the ass, lol. I've heard of people having some sort of rare condition that prevents them from feeling any pain at all. I'd like to try that for awhile. I know it would have it's drawbacks, because pain serves a purpose, but I'd like to try it for a couple days.
Hahaha yea god that would be so awesome! I know it's bad and wrong to wish that but when your pain has been a 6-8 for almost 3 years it sounds like heaven! God I wish I could get on an ER med for night time but i dunno. I feel like I'm the only person in America trying to get ER meds haha. But it's cause I need them. I don't care that I can't put it up my nose I want my pain to go away.
Yea I think early next year maybe.hope my doc will try me on it...hydro works well for treating my pain it's just wearing off to quick. So then if I take my nightly dose around 12-1 like I do the best I can hope for is to make it till 8-9AM before I'm up tossing and turning or unable to sleep period. I go to my doc tomorrow and I'm gunna talk to him about the problem and see what he says. Wish me luck!!
Yeah, good luck. Well, tell him what you're going through and maybe he'll increase your hydro script or put you on something else. Doctors know that after a while people develop a tolerance and they don't work as well. I started out on 3 5mg hydro's per day back in 2003, and now I'm taking 5 10's per day. And that isn't even enough.
Good luck on your trip to the doctor and definately see if he will give you anything extended release.I remember the days of trying to make hydros last all day and how hard it was, and if this doctor wont give you an ER med, might look for a different doctor that will.
Sitting in the waiting room now. I hate feeling nervous for an appointment but I get the worst anxiety when I come here. I'll post soon how it goes.
