If at 18 years old you could decide how many years you can live

At 18 I really don't think it was something that I even would have thought about. I was still in that live forever mentality.

I never considered not growing old. I just refuse to mature.

 

Some people never realize that they can change things.

 

Heather - I refuse to mature as well, truly, and I think that's a GOOD thing!

At 18 I would have said like 60. At 19 I just don't know.

 

I'm 18 and I don't know what I want. Seriously, have no fucking clue. I'd like to live long enough to do all the things that make life fulfilling, over and over again. but I suppose, there's a point where it becomes all the same. My best guess is around mid-70's or 80. Could be under that for all I know.

 

For as long as I had had the mental and physical capabilities to enjoy life without being a burden to others.

My hubby and I joke that the kids can throw us in a home but make sure we have our computers,dope and we'll be happy together lol

 

Think about all the things you could do, you could see the future! You could see how humankind colonizes other planets, see other species, explore the universe! You could study to be a doctor and dedicate infinite time to cancer research, then if you get bored you could research into "green" power technology, I don´t know, there´s so many things to do.

Besides, i´m atheist, I love being the way I am but since I don´t believe in the afterlife I have to admit that eternal nothingness PETRIFIES ME.

150 sounded like a nice round number then, and still does now.
i don't expect to. but it still sounds like a nice round number.

and one not so unrealistic, that the bodies self repair mechanisms couldn't achieve it, were ideal circumstances otherwise available.

 

im 18, i say around 80 if i maintained overall health and exercised daily. It's a shame i might die tomorrow! :rofl:

Who knows what advances will be made in the next 60 years in factors that determine our life span. I would just want to live as long as I am in good health both mentally and physically.

 

If I was going to pick one I was going to die I would say never. Ever lasting life on a paradise earth were all humans get along and the animals are free to roam and we dont eat them

 

When I was 18, 70 - 80 seemed so old..but since entering my 30th decade i've been thinking of time more in 30 year cycles..it doesn't feel like it took me very long to get here which means it won't take me long to get to 60 or 90 either. Yikes!

 

I am in the exact same boat. I'm 30. Berhh. The thought of 50 is just weeks away. And I think I feel 50 too.

 

50 would be a good age to die. Before my health starts to deteriorate. If i'm in love then that would change everything.

 

150 sounds about right to me. life is never too long if you have enough imagination and you're allowed to be creative with it.
150 seems to be the max the process of sustaining life in the human form is good for,
but i'd really love to be able to live longer then that, to personally witness the unfolding of history and observe how social dynamics actually work.

no idea what ages i was at the time of choosing would have to do with it.
i'd choose the same before i was born.
i'd choose the same now that i'm less then a year short of 70.

 

I know I recently turned sixty and lately I am starting to feel it, I don’t know if it is the age or the after affects of having West Nile 5 years ago. Still hoping for twenty more years, want time to watch the grandkids grow up.

 

I think when I was 18 I figured I'd already be dead by now...
