Can someone explain to me how exactly to use uTorrent? Is it dangerous? Seriously, the more details the better. because I just downloaded it and don't know what I'm doing
I've used uTorrent for years and it's been great. Go to a site like "The Pirate Bay" and then download a file, it will open up in uTorrent and then start downloading. The first time you try to download a file it will probably say "Which program would you like to open this file with" and then you'd select uTorrent. When selecting which file to download always try to pick the one with the most "seeders". I won't get into the details but I'll put it like this "seeders" are good and "leechers" are bad. Just read the comments on the files that you're downloading to make sure that other people have downloaded the file already and everything works smoothly. It takes a little getting used to at first if you've never done it before. But after awhile it becomes natural.
Never used it, always just used Vuze, But yeah, Bolero is right. You go to The Pirate Bay or Kickass Torrents and just read everything carefully to make sure you are getting what you want. Most torrents will have comments about the quality of the file or info if it's broken or fucked up. Rarely you will get a virus or anything. If you are worried just scan what you download with Microsoft Security Essentials or whatever anti-virus proggy you use. Also make sure you click the correct 'download' button. There is usually one that says 'download' but it's just an ad. Oh, and with movies and games make sure you don't seed/upload because that is how they can catch you pirating. Music isn't so much a big deal but I don't seed anything simply because it slows down the internet. If you run into any issues or have anymore questions feel free to ask.
With the bay too look at the skulls tells you how they are at uploading shit as well. But other then that it's been covered lol
I also use TPB and uTorrent, but I've heard that there's a lot of awesome stuff to download from russian sites, as long as you're careful to check it. BTW,,on TPB, the way to tell what files have the most seeders is to click on the "SE" at the top, in the brown area, on the right. That orders the results of your search by how many seeders there are, for a specific file.
I used uTorrent a while ago before it got dangerous. Although, I hear with the "legality" of things, now, its much safer. A friend of mine had her computer and everything on it compromised because of torrents.
I Have been using utorrent for about 5 years. It is completely safe and Reliable. What Version Are you using? I am using 2.2.1 Since you did not specify WHAT you are having trouble with I cannot specify WHAT you need to do, but I will explain some of utorrent. 1.) Find a Torrenting Site Thats legitimate and safe. I prefer Kat.ph or Piratebay 2.) Find a Torrent That you would like to download. In my case I am downloading a movie that stars Tupac called "Juice." 3.) Once you know what you want find "Download Torrent" Or click the Widget above this. Dont let ads fool you, they put "DOWNLOAD HERE" signs all over some sites but look for the word Torrent or an Downloading image. 4.) Save the torrent to a secure file or your desktop. 5.) Open the file, if it asks to choose a program select Utorrent. 6.) Now Open uTorrent on the left hand side click "Downloading" 7.) Vuela, you are now dowloading your first torrent. Seeds: Seeders are fellow downloaders who are pushing bandwidth to new downloaders (in a sense) Being a seeder is a nice thing to do, but suicidal if u seed everything you download. As in "YOUR INTERNET WILL BE SLOW" Leechers: Opposite of seeders, they just download the torrent then delete it. Trackers: Speed help. Basically u upload links onto your client and it mirrors the torrent through websites to increase the kb/sec.
id say the best site now for downloading torrents is the pirate bay ... now that they took down mininova ... that was the best torrent site ever
