Luminous Hive (50 mgs 4-aco-dmt)

I had set out to treat this trip similar to a 'heroic dose' of Magic Mushrooms in the Mckenna style of high dose, complete darkness although based on previous experience with 4-aco-dmt and music enhancement there is no way I could take the trip without some music. I have had a few 4-aco-dmt trips prior to this but this was by far my highest dose, exceeding any previous oral 4-aco-dmt trip by nearly 20 mgs so I was expecting pretty deep inner traveling and it delivered.

I dosed 50 mgs of 4-aco-dmt at 11:10 pm with the light still on in my room. Within minutes I got initial alerts, onset rapidly developed within 15 minutes. At the onset I looked at my sweater laying on a table at the foot of my bed and the wool material triggered a memory of a previous mushroom trip as it it made sort of light amorphous distortions. A couple of after imaging off the lights and I decided it was time for the lights to go.

I turned off my light lay back and loaded my music. There is bad connection in my room with the wireless connection and it often buffers my music in the middle of a song when I try to listen to music back there and I definitely thought about that ahead of a time and decided I would try and deal with it. The connection was actually pretty good throughout the course of the evening, there were moments where the music would drop and buffer which tested my nerves during this journey but for the most part it played pretty good.



The effects developed rapidly yet came overly me slowly, a luminous glowing quality highlighted the room off the light of my phone which I was using to play music. The first track I listened to was Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath, the music felt serene as waves upon waves of twisting and spiraling energy coursed and weaved throughout my being. My playlist was on random and the next track that came up was Journey-Anyway and damn that track hit me deep, I was soaring off Neal Schon's guitar sound and hypnotized by Gregg Rollie's vocals. I cycled through various genres throughout the evening from classic rock, some acoustic, and a lot of electronic psychedelic music.

Into the peak, the visuals became very crisp and digitized. Spinning honeycomb fractals, gave way to wind tunnels which gave way to checkerboard fractals which would send me shooting up various networks of of rotating multi-shaped patterns which reminded me sort of a rubix cube in the way it constantly adjusted. The visuals constantly were changing shape, size and 'texture' yet each new series of fractals seemed to perfectly fit at one point before giving way to another series of fractals. This part had a very DMT type feel in how crisp the visuals were, accompanied with a very strong wonderous emotional component.

The visuals felt as if they started to crowd up on me, I did have music off for certain points in time during the trip and when the music was off, I had a lot of mental chatter. I heard voices of those close to me sort of speaking indiscriminately to me where I couldn't really understand what they were saying but it was almost as if my brain was firing this voice recognition system in my head to sort of remind me of those I have close relationships with. The way I heard those voices, they changed in pitch frequently and I interpretted various emotions with different pitches, eventhough I couldn't really make out any words. It made me contemplate how automatic we are in responses to individuals based alot on our perceived pitch we hear delivered from an individual rather than what is being said. I would think that gets reinforced over time as well. I then experienced sort of buzzy sounds and got the impression of very insectoid like creatures that seemed pretty fucking pissed off they couldn't get me to visualize them, yet I felt a strong presence from them and like I was being shown some sort of fractal hives or something. I had never experienced anything like this before on 4-aco-dmt or DMT but I had read similar types of experiences from individuals in DMT:The Spirit Molecule by Rick Strassman. At one point, I felt like I was sort of dancing with one of them in my mind, although I couldn't make it out, I felt like I could almost affect a part of the fractals somewhat and it would respond with a counter movement on the other side of the fractals. It was odd that my eyes seemed to want to flutter a lot around this point of the trip, it felt good to sort of blink rapidly and I was yawning often as well. I felt privy to some cosmic knowledge at points but it was intertwined within the experience and not really anything that I could bring back.

I clammored to get my music back on at this point and that relaxed me and sort of redirected the trip back to more of a serene place. I started getting pretty intense color enhacement at this point with the music, most the evening had been characterized by sort of a bluish hue but now I was getting more redish type electric colors, moving in time with the music. I got a silhoutte of a female figure and some waves course throughout my body before the effects began to wane, I stopped tripping about 3:30 am but I still spent another 1 1/2 hours contemplating emotional material and enjoying some lingering music enhancement.

This trip was really quality, the high dose and the setting allowed for some depth to the 4-aco-dmt trip that I had yet to experience, it maintained a good balance of very grounded introspective emotional material with mindbending abstract alien material. This is a trip that I think will take further integration beyond this trip report in the coming days/weeks/etc. but I sought to get out many of the ideas and perceptions of the trip I experienced down for a good starting point to hopefully catalyze some further insight later on and to get it down while it's still fresh in memory.

i don't remember exactly what i wanted to say about this part except, FUCK YEAH, dude, that's just like it was for me.

that sounds exactly like dmt for me. the visuals (closed eye) move in and in and in til they are right in my face.

stuff made me yawn A LOT as well. and like i said before, my eyes were filling with moisture making it hard to see. sorta like your eye fluttering and blinking. i also got super cold, shivered, and almost violently shook a bit near the beginning. it was a combo of cold and tryptamine buzzing energy.

crazy how it can be so strong, but almost completely over within 4 hours. i wish it lasted longer. at least it's longer lasting than it's N,N-cousin.


edit: my brother just called while i was typing this, and we talked about our trip the other weekend. he said that he doesn't think he'll ever try this one again. said he got super bummed at ~4 hours in, couldn't think, couldn't ride the bike, just felt mentally drained. that happened the one time we dosed LSD at my apt. too, but not nearly as bad he said. it also was on a bike ride...in the cemetery, near the end of our trip when that happened to him last. so it could've been a combination of any of those things.

not as great of a setting at my apt/in the park/cemetery when compared to camping in the real woods or at a music festival. could just be that he gets bummed when a trip ends, and aces is a lot shorter than LSD, so it was "worse" in that respect. i told him not to rule out trying it again, but that i also wasn't pressuring him to do so. i also mentioned how the 2cs were more of a sensorial trip, not as much mentally, and he thinks he would like that. he thought the aces had "no bad physical effects, but bad mental effects" when he got bummed out. but i dunno about trading that for something like 2ce with bad physical effects with not so much mental. maybe he'll give -e or -b a try one day.

 

I'm very interested in trying this chem probably over any other. If I ever order an rc it'll probably be 4-aces. Great report, it only further solidifies my interest in this chem.

 

Very interesting report GB. I also want to try 4 aces. Have you read McKenna's true hallucinations? Alot of reference to those insects and the buzzing sound. That's actually what made his brother snap. He was trying to duplicate the sound and from then on things got really weird...

 

i meant to ask if you got any negative side effects, GB? like the next day or on the comedown.

 

4-ACO-DMT is hard on you ain't it?

 

That buzzing sound is very strong for me as well. So much so that the closer people come to me the stronger it gets for them as well. Last 2-3 times I tripped I had the impression that an aggressive Insect-man with shades was trying to come through me. Some really sharp energy currents occur in the body.

 

Are you making the buzzing sound or are you just hearing it?

 

I'm hearing it, it feels like it's coming from above my head area.

I took into account yours and ThisMoment's reports of shivering and feeling cold with 4-aco-dmt and so I was under a layer of blankets most of the evening, I didn't really experience a significant cold feeling and maybe minimal shivers/tremors. And yah it seemed my eyes wanted to moisturize or something and that was probably why I had eye flutters.

I felt the 4-aco-dmt let up significantly ~4 hour mark but I didn't feel depression tho, if anything I remained with a minor afterglow in the early morning where I was reflecting and listening to music. The following day I was a bit lethargic and felt like I took a heavy trip the previous evening in that I was slightly foggy headed but I was still able to function and eat.

No I've only read Food of the Gods from Mckenna and seen a lot of youtube videos. I haven't really read/heard Terrence or Dennis commenting on the insect phenomena. I definitely would like to check that out though, do they give any sort of analysis on the subject? The reports in DMT:The Spirit Molecule were pretty much just that reports and I recall one of the individuals saying on N,N DMT that they visualized the insect(s) thing devouring them or something.

Yes it was a very aggressive sound and perception, I've experienced a similar sound with DMT but probably largely due to the ROA, with DMT that climaxes in a ripping sensation of the sound sometimes where on 4-aco-dmt this was a persistent buzz sound that would build up on itself and sort of remain on top of me for a bit. That's interesting that you say that other's can perceive the buzz sound off you.

 

They just hear it, it's an energy field. Ever step into a room and feel like you can cut the tension with a knife? It's energy, people pick up on it.

My cousin and me did 4aces a few weeks ago and he picked up on it when I asked him to get me a glass of water. as soon as he stepped near me he was like "what is that buzzing sound". i just smiled, not knowing how to explain.

 

Pretty interesting observation, a good reminder of the effect of our words and tone of voice when communicating with friends/loved ones.

Wow you went way way way in there! Do you think 50 mg of 4 aco is about equal to 5 grams of mushrooms, or more/less?

 

In terms of intensity, yah I'd say it's about equivalent to 5 grams of mushrooms. I've only explored 5 grams of shrooms once and that was on a camping trip with a couple friends during the afternoon, so different approach in set and setting. In terms of feel, this 4-aco-dmt felt the least similar to mushrooms with my few explorations with it, definitely had a unique signature to it. When often describing 4-aco-dmt, I generally relate it as a 'hollowed' out mushroom trip and I don't feel I'd fully backtrack on that assessment, like as I mentioned at the beginning of the trip it sort of triggered a response to a previous mushroom trip and that mental chatter I had, I recall experiencing something similar to that on my 5 gram mushroom trip as well but I experienced effects that closely resembled DMT (Changa in particular) on this 4-aco-dmt trip too.

 

shivaya, 4aces isn't hard on me. i only got a slight headache from 45 mg. i was just curious if GB got anything like that.


i liked the bit about tone/pitch in your voice. i think most people don't consider their tone when communicating in everyday life, especially with the ones we love.


i don't think 45 mg was equal to 4.5 grams of mushrooms. i've never eaten more than 3.5 grams, and that has been much more intense in my experience.

mushrooms are very difficult for me, so i can relate to the "hollowed out shroom trip" statemeny
