Old Timer Decides to Revisit

Hello all. I'm an old timer from way back in the 70's.
First trip- purple micro dot (great), subsuquent trips- blotter, shrooms (good and bad) Mr. Natural, Windowpane (good and bad).
Last trip was 1979 at age 22. Total trips, probably 30 to 40.
The last trip was "Mr. Natural" on the perforated cube paper, whole 4 way hit.
I had a straight sitter taxi me around the mountains of Nevada. Wonderful experience.
Myself and a friend of similar age who share the same past experiences with acid decided several months ago that we would take advantage of the opportunity to drop again if the acid "fell in our lap".
I'm a stone sculptor. He's a salesman.
While hanging out at my shop/studio another artist dropped in to chat. Acid comes up in the conversation, and we ask if he can get it.
He blows our mind and pulls out a two hit semi-translucent 3/8" x 1/2" chip from his cell phone. Says it's two (not completely sure if he said 2 or 1) 150 microgram hits from his private stash, and after much coersion sells it to us for $50. We ask for another but Noooo!
Now a month later and we're going on a 3 day business trip together to buy carving stone and drive it back from the quarry in a big truck.
We plan to fly into "a city" midday, pick up the truck, drop the hits midday grab a room (we're both straight) and take in some local outdoor, inner city sights and sounds while tripping. We'll crash/sleep, drive the truck to the quarry, pick-up stone and start driving back the next day.
I'm very excited about this and want to trip again but have some apprehensions. One being that I have not told my wife about this intended "trip" (she'd flip) in the event that something goes really wrong.

Here are my other apprehensions:

-The dosage being incorrect- too large I can't reach the other artist to verify that the hit(s) is 2- 150's are 1- 150
-Flashing and locking into one of my occassional bad trips from over 30 years back (freaking out)
-My friend freaking out and having to sitter him while tripping
-Dying
-Turning psychotic

My positive expectations are to have some awesome visuals, mildly intense sensations, a nice mellow trip and peak that will leave me feeling very positive and satisfied about the (re)experience.

Any advice, tips, etc. from old timers and current generations is welcomed and sought after.
Also, any difference in the LSD then and now i.e. dosage, quality, content????

My advice to you is to simply go ahead with your plan and try to leave behind apprehension. If you have any prior experience with acid, I imagine it will feel fimiliar to you and a dose of today that is ESTIMATED 150ug will likely be underwhelming. 150 ug would be a decent trip for someone with no tolerance. 75ug would even be a good dose to get you back into the swing of things if that's all it turns out to be each.

What I am trying to say is that you need to fear not the dosage that you have.
If those 'chips' are similar to standard dose of blotter, I think you have two tabs based on the usual 1/4" by 1/4" dimensions.

Psychosis is VERY rare and usually very temporary, nothing to really worry about, especially if you have prior use of LSD and you didn't experience psychosis persisting after the trip should be over.

Also I can tell you that whatever is on that tab won't kill you, I would just allot extra time for your trip in case it turns out to be a different psychedelic substance that may last longer.

I haven't seen anyone freak out on low doses like this and I think that since you both have a background with tripping you shouldn't need to worry about each other needing to be babysat.

I'd say drop all expectations and just take one hit if you're looking for a mellower trip. Each trip usually has something to offer and trips can vary dramatically so just go with it and draw upon past experiences if the trip calls for it. Chances are the dosage will be lower than it's been purported to you rather than higher. You won't die from LSD and I suspect psychosis to be highly unlikely if you didn't experience it in the past when you probably were taking it at a time with a much more fragile and developing brain/mind.

Looking after others can be sort of cumbersome while tripping, I've always felt a degree of responsibility for those I turn on as well but you mentioned your friend has a similar level of experience so he should know what's up. Erowid.com is a great resource to gather general information or refreshen up on LSD and tripping in general.

The dosage of LSD is often reported as being consistently lower today than in previous times but there are still potent tabs that make their way around. There are also several new chemicals that come on blotters now as well, many of which were probably not really commercially available in the past and some were not even invented yet. Most of them are sort of delegated to a particular niche within the psychedelic community tho but there seems to be the rare occasion where some of these chemicals get passed off as LSD.

 

I would not worry about it, relax and enjoy. Should be a nice dose especially if its been awhile.

 

You won't die and psychosis only occurs in folks with a predisposition. You would know by now if you had a predisposition.

Bring a couple of xanax, one for you and your friend. Benzodiazopines are the antidote and xanax works the fastest. If all goes wrong, it will fix you right up. No worries.

 

i wouldn't worry about freaking out or any of that other stuff. just relax and enjoy your trip.

there is still potent lsd out there, but for alot of doses 1 hit is a little bit underwhelming. so depending on the quality of the lsd you have you could be in for a varied experience.

Mostly good advice imo, I know nothing about aborting with benzos but then again, I've never wanted to do that.
Ya, what Shiv said is true, I was away from psyches for a long time. If you're anything like me, you'll probably find it "familiar territory".
I suspect a strange town(unless you know it) might not be an ideal setting. And feeling like you're sneaking around behind your spouses back might not be a great set. You're a grown up, judge for yourself.
But I have to chime in with this comment, and I hope it doesnt add to your reservations...
Tabs stored in a cell phone? Heat destroys LSD rapidly. I can't help but think something's rotten in Denmark. Pulls out semi translucent tabs ? (haven't heard of anything like that lately) and sells you 2 from his "private stash" for ... $50 ??? I'm weary of the sound of this like doing you a favor, then vastly over charging. Tabs go for $5-10 , ive even heard 12. But not 25. And if it's the real deal, stored in a hot cell phone might have ruined it.

As for the rest, freak outs and psychosis are extremely rare. Bad trips are mostly always set and setting. But I imagine you know all this.
Careful consideration and contemplation. Awareness of set and setting. Common sense and your relative wisdom being older and all. You'll be fine.
A genuine 150 mics is a rightous time. I've done some dots that are reported to be 150, could be a bit less but they are in every way exactly as my experiences in the 70's/80's. Last month I had an evening with 2, (which I didnt think I would after twice with one being quite lovely) and had absolutely no worries whatsoever wandering and hiking the beach on Maui, walking into town an hour after peaking and having a convo with an artist couple, meandering through town with people about, etc.

I also am one to believe that urban myths about todays stuff is overblown. There are alot of RC's that can fit on a blotter with effect. I've no experience with any except 25i nbome and there's no way someone who's had the real deal would confuse what Ive had with lucy.
There are some DO x out there that get passed as lucy but again, if you read about their half life and effects, you'd know.
Dosages tend to be smaller now on blots then they were back when we were kids. The dea reports state most are between 20 to 80 but batches do go around in the 100-200 range.
It's either lucy or its not. Hopefully it is and its a nice 100-150ug.

if it really is 2 X 150 ug, then it's probably worth the $50 if you have no other source. good LSD is priceless, but 50 is expensive

what color are they? sounds like geltabs, being semi-translucent

 

First tripped in the 70s on purp micro dots and black star tetragrammaton then in the 80s with clean fire WOW stopped for over 25 years then for the past almost 3.5 years have had about 100 hits of varied types of decent acid.

I can relate to the initial apprehensions from such a long break. Go for it you'll be glad you did afterwards. Just make sure to read the thread things not to do while tripping....

 

I unwrapped the hit(s) and examined them closer. It's not semi-translucent (my bad) as I thought at quick glance when we bought it and hastily put it away. It's closer to 1/4" x 1/2" thin cardboard with reddish speckling and irregular patterns, like a fungal growth would look on off white colored paper.
The trip (one of them) was postponed for the reasons Voyage gave. A local excursion is now the plan.
We knew the price was out-there. I used to pay 4.50 to 6.00 for a 4 way back then, 2.50 for a single blotter hit. But the opportunity seemed ripe.
And, his reluctance to sell more than one, claiming a 40 hit stash, and the claims of one of his friends, who tried it, who showed up to pick him up, and the fact that if we had not mentioned it he would never have offered (we were phishing him) played out squarely.
Hopefully his storage space was only temporary. I agree (not smart).
Perhaps I'll post a pic of the blot. (?)
However, all this doubt and suspicion regarding the circumstances and authenticity of the acquisition (somewhat valid suspicions) and the legwork I've gone through to plan the trip now has me considering just waiting and exploring locally for a more reliable and discreet source.
I had assumed so far that the availability was rare, but that does not seem to be true. A good reliable (intelligent) trusted source who knows the drug and the dosage does seem rare.

As for postponing until a better time, sounds wise to me. If you enjoy your local digs and know some chill places, that might be best. Nature is my preferred venue, hopefully you have a good setting in mind.
Your description sounds unique. Are the 2 together 1/4X1/2? So, 1/4 square each? Thats the normal size. Cardboard? Or blotter? I'm leary of cardboard only because some 25i I received was on cardboard, similar to like cereal box type stuff. Most quality blots going around are actual blotter paper. A distinct difference but I've not seen enough these days to say that the absence of blotter paper means it is or isn't what your friend says it is.
And ya, the fact that it popped up unsolicited says something. Glad you didn't take it as harshing your serendipitous find, just sounded a bit sketch.
If you know the cat, and his ride, and trust them as genuine peeps, I'd say you're prob in good hands. But again, you're an adult. Common sense and trust your instincts. As you tell the tale, if you can afford it the price is worth it for a genuine quality experience as Pork said.

 

I never saw a pattern like this before.
The paper is thin but has good density and is flexible but not perforated.
The ruler won over the auto focus, macro mode.
Could be part of a larger pattern from a whole sheet- duhnno.

Looks like it could be legit to me. I have had doses that were not perforated, but were on paper similar to that. And it looks like it is part of a bigger design.

The problem with ones like that is is kind of up to the dealer to decide a "hit". Be catious, there are more RC's passed of as acid then in years past.

1 hit should be 1/4" by 1/4"

that's only 3/8" long, not 1/2"
and it's probably more like 3/16" wide, not 1/4"

i bought a "ten strip" with similar dimensions once. didn't measure it til later obviously, then did the math and realized it was more like 6 hits (considering the total area)

but if they were 150 ug to begin with, those two tiny hits you have might be 200 ug total. still could be good. better eat it and find out

 

Looks like blotter paper to me, and only one hit.
If you took a four way hit of Mr.Natural (I remember those, think they were around 300ugs for all four "hits") and found it to be a good manageable trip, you will most likely be underwhelmed if those are like 90% of the hits around now. But if the other aspects of what you were told are true, it could very well be some potent, personal stash LSD.

Concerning heat issues with storage in a cell phone (not a bad idea for short term transport) it really depends on how/how much the person uses the phone.
My phone stays cool as ice and battery will last days for me. Give it to my 11 year old and she has that thing smoking hot and battery dead in 2 hours watching videos.

Don't worry about revisiting psychedelics after a long break, it is just like coming home to a nice familiar place.:sunny:
