Good sentiment, but in reality, with the changing circumstances of weather, etc., you really don't have much control over "safe", as much as you would, perhaps, when sorting eggs on a ranch. It's a risky business.

But knowing Nimrod, I suppose he's up to the challenge.

How easy is it to find work? Could I leave my life behind and join a salmon boat, (or whatever you fish for) or do you have to know a guy?

When I was stationed in Alaska and got out of the army I knew someone that could've gotten me into working one of those jobs, but chickened out.

I fish for Black Cod and Halibut, to get a decent job without knowing someone is almost impossible. Salmon boats are a little easier but still you have to ask yourself why is this boat willing to hire someone with no experience.

One of those good and bad things in life.....I am looking forward to the pictures you always take when on the boat.

Stay safe and pack your woollies in case. :)
