Because I have no money and no income...I've been smoking avg. pack a day for 6 years now. I want to quit, but am scared and I have reservations.
I have no enjoyment in smoking cigarettes, and smoke purely out of habit and nicotine addiction. So when I wake up, no more cigarettes.
I'm afraid of the withdrawal. I'm afraid of being bitchy, hormonal, and angry, as well has nervous and restless.

What are some things I can do to cut the cravings down, stay occupied, or otherwise make it as light and easy as it possibly can?

Banging your head against the wall will curb the withdrawals temporarily... Ummm Not really.

I guess just being strong willed will get you through this. I've not been able to quit yet and I've been smoking for 40 years. Half of that has been roll your own, no filters... Damn I gotta quit. Just hasn't happened yet.

Good luck, Just be strong and you will do it. :2thumbsup:

It's a mind set thing . Yes it's a bitch , but it's not really as hard as people make it out to be either . You can do it . Just think of the money you will be saving . Once I get past three days , i'm good . It's no longer any big deal . I have done it many times . Get some hard candies and suckers too . You may want to eat more than usual too . Do it , what ever helps you deal with withdraws . And if you drink alcohol ,forget about that for awhile . Because you won't quit if you do . Good luck , and you CAN do it . And they really are bad for your health .

when i gave up i sipped fruit juice every time i needed a fag, got me used to having something fresh tasting in my mouth instead, that and being a stubborn git and not wanting the craving to win got me through eventually.
one of the hardest addictions to get rid of but you'll do it if you believe in yourself, hey your stronger than a mere cigarette, you'll win just keep telling yourself you can do this and you will.

If you find yourself really struggling, try an e-cig for a bit to smooth the transition. They're effective because you can step down the nicotine, and they also satisfy the hand-to-mouth habit. Good luck!

those e-cigs sound good in theory but some dude got badly injured when the battery in one exploded.

never did understand replacing nicotine with another form of nicotine, a friend has been addicted to that nicotine chewing gum stuff for years, thats costing her a fortune and she still craves the fags.

guess were all different and what works for one might not work another though.

The effects of physical withdrawals will pass. Also no fun, but avoiding company that smokes a lot will help as well. And get distractions for the moments you are used to light up. Good luck!

I learned that hypnotherapy is the most successful method out of every method. My friends have been hypnotized by Chuck King at an event at GVSU, so I would trust his cds. He has a website you could probably find pretty easily.

try to convince yourself that the wanting is only fleeting, and 10 minutes from now you probably won't want a cigarette as bad as you do now. you have to look at the big picture. pretty soon you'll get over it and you'll wonder why the hell you supplied those rich fuckers with so much money when all they gave you was a means to kill yourself slowly.

I kicked the cigs a couple weeks ago. After 4 years of smoking half a pack to a pack a day. And I tell you what, you're not only going to crave it your body is going to adjust itself from 6 years of smoking tobacco to cold turkey. This means headaches body aches lungs will be cleaning themselves out so you will be spitting up some nasty stuff. But give yourself two weeks if you can hold off for 2 weeks you can hold off for the rest of your life. good luck brother.

Electronic cigs are a viable option and so long as you use protected batteries, which you find for most e-cigs outside of mods, you don't risk exploding batteries. I did a lot of research here before I bought mine: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/
Try buying an e-cig from a local gas station until you can get a better model. It will help! Just make sure you have nicotine in the liquid, otherwise it will be useless.

    faelixx is right...

Smoking is hard to break.. and after you quit the cravings never go away...
For me atleast they come and go at random times..... after i eat, when i drink alchohol, when i'm around smokers, mad, stressed or sad....

But if you have the willpower and something to motivate you... you can definatly quit but it is definatly not easy....

Its expensive to kill yourself... smoking that tobacco.

    Sending you goodvibes.

i agree with the two weeks thing, you can do this mate. just dont think about them. try not to be around people smoking them. be sure of yourself. turn down free cigs. chew toothpicks or sunflower seeds work great. you dont need my luck

i've been smoking since i was 15.. have quit here and there.. hope this time is for good.. been about a month i think.. i'm not sure.. i don't think about it.. chew gum.. sunflower seeds.. suck on hard candy... drink water.. fuck the e-cig.. shit is weak.. it's like saying "ok.. im not gonna shoot up heroin anymore.. instead i'll snort it".. you're not breaking the addiction with an e-cig.. you're just finding another way to get nicotine in your system

The thing is Joker, nicotine won't cause cancer-but cigs do. Nicotine is deadly in extremely high doses, but the levels one would use in an e-cig are safe. Many people use an e-cig to wean off of nicotine completely. Sure beats the hell out of Nicorette price wise!

nicorette helps wean people off cigs because its gum with nicotine.. .e-cigs are just a replacement for a cig.. you still go through the same motions.. when the e-cig fails.. what are the chances you are gonna purchase another e-cig.. or bum a cig instead.. and then buy a pack.. it's pretty easy.. i know.. been there.. done that.. e-cig is bullshit.. don't try to tell me differently.. if you want to quit smoking.. quit what makes a cig a cig.. quit nicotine all together
