Yesterday, I said a little good bye and smashed my billy :bigcry:. So now I am left with what to smoke/consume my THC with.
At the moment I have a little tin pipe, an Iolite and of course joints also I am soon going to be getting some leaf to do some cooking with :D.

A rule of the new housemate is that I can not smoke from something that has water in it (coming from the health point, and no I can't and don't want to move out). I would normally smoke from a bucket as a second choice.

Are there any particular pipes that reduce the 'harshness' of the smoke? I enjoy smoking from my little tinnie, but it starts to burn after a while (I don't spin my bud either).

Any other suggestions or opinions about switching to a non water piece?

Have you considered a better vaporizer? I love my Arizer Solo, and I hear their table top model, the Volcano, is good too. Iolite is an OK vape, but the Solo and MFLB get much better reviews. Iolite was one of my top considerations until I read up at the FuckCombustion.com forums. :)
I don't know if you can get a smooth smoke w/o a bong. I have a few glass pieces, and one metal, and if I have to smoke I choose the glass over the metal. The metal has an odd flavor, and it's not dirty.

I have no idea what the fuck half these words mean but maybe you should get a glass pipe. They are easy to conceal and transport from place to place. They can be a liiitle harsh though but not like a blunt or joint.

I didn't get the point of the housemate not allowing anything to be smoked out of something that has water in it. What's the deal? Water shortage?

What's the "health point" of not smoking from something that has water in it? Is the water there unhealthy? Or is it that it's "unhealthy" to use up all the available water for smoking?

It would seem to me that it's healthier to smoke out of something that has water in it than to be using joints, or waterless pipes.

    And what's a "billy"?

NORML actually did a study and found that water absorbs slightly more THC than it does tar, so effectively you have to smoke more to get the same high.

but i was confused by the no water rule as well

i believe joker linked me to that norml studay awhile ago

    thanks for that.

I've been using a small, unstable bubbler ,, one I picked up for around 15 bucks (it fell over once when I reached for it quickly while high,,boy,,what smelly water. It soaked my mousepad, so I ended up throwing the pad away. Now I'm using an old bible as a mousepad,,lol). It does cool the smoke, but I'm also aware of the fact that I'm losing a bit of the effect. I'd really like to purchase a vaporizer, but the only one they sell at Target is for "Vicks Vapo-Rub",,lol.

I don't know if it's a health issue but having big bulbs of bongwater sitting around certainly is not good housekeeping. ...The risk or a past incidence of spillage might also be a reason for such a rule...

    Hmm,,. Didn't know that.

And me, I've got dark, spotted water, so I guess that makes it worse.

But I don't think I have anything to worry about. Here in Southern California, we pay a high cost of living to live in a germ-free locale. Our bongs are safe.

^^^oh ya, everything in so cal is sooo much better :)

OP, is a "billie" a bong? you broke it on accident? and spilled the water??

    amazon, search arizer extreme

clean your bong, shouldn't be a problem. empty the water even. my house is quite clean, yet i have a bong which i have never spilled in over 2 years. but if i DID spill it, it wouldn't be a disaster, as the water is nearly drinkable. i use it daily, but i change the water at least every other day.

i don't buy that. maybe if you let it sit for months. with absolutely nasty water in it. but if it's JUST water, and you didn't add kool aid or beer or something like that, it should be 90 some % bacteria free. it's really about the AMOUNT of bacteria, as they are everywhere. they won't grow very well in clean water that is sitting still. there has to be a source of nutrients, and i suppose bong ash could be it, but again, JUST CLEAN IT

I say just get a nice thick glass pipe. Something good looking with a deep bowl, a big carb, and a big chamber. Everyone should have one.

Yeah, sorry, billy = bong. I actually broke it on purpose, but if i didn't the housemate would of in the next few days anyway.

I am not so much saying that I buy the bacteria thing, keep a clean bong and you should be alright. But it is also, apparently, because you are breathing in small amounts of water onto your lungs.

Once again, not necessarily my opinions, just the rules and reasons laid out to me.

And inhaling water is bad because......? We need moisture! Though IDK if I buy into that reason either. People have used hookah's for a long time w/o much harm and that is a water pipe too.

    Silly rules for silly people.

I never quite understood the logic, in the context of a world in which people from various economic strata exist side by side, where those who are comfortably situated find license to simply discard, or "break" things that are no longer useful to them, rather than RECYCLE them, giving them to someone less fortunate, who might actually appreciate the gift.

Hendrix, The Who, and other such groups used to frustrate me to no end when they routinely lit their instruments on fire or broke their equipment to pieces onstage, as part of the "performance". Why couldn't they have simply given the guitar away, to someone less fortunate than themselves. Surely they could have found some lucky fan to give a free guitar to, in addition to the fact that it had been played by one of their music idols. Who wouldn't want a free guitar, given to them by Jimi Hendrix or Pete Townsend??

    What selfish pricks.

Next time you feel like smashing something that's still useful,,,think about the next guy, who might not have the spare cash to buy your no-longer-needed "trash". It's a big world out there.

I fully get the recycle thing, most of my stuff is made from recyclable materials, and things that I no longer need (and still in good condition) get donated or remade into other things.

I also could not give away the bong either, as the only people i know within a 4000km radius is the housemate. I also knew that if my bong was still around, I would keep smoking from him.

On a side note, have you seen the 'Story of Stuff'? Defiantly worth a look if you have the time.
    http://www.storyofstuff.org/
Watch some of the movies. The story of stuff, and the bottled water ones in particular.
