If you want to win an argument, the best way is to criticize someone else for being selfish.

First off, I LOVE George Clooney.

He does not know it yet, but he will be my next boyfriend. :D

and for the record, I think he not only has class and is soooo fine and handsome (and my type), but that he is an excellent actor. Everybody doesn't have to think the same thing...opinions are like butt-holes and elbows - everybody has one.

I also think he was arrestested in protest while standing up for the poor and underpriviledged in this other place, country. However he does/did that, he didn't care - shows even more class and gumption that he intentionally put himself in "on the line", so to say, and to get arrested for this. (The thing that he said he was Brad Pitt is hilarious.)

    Got to be irony.

But yeah I was shocked too that anyone famous should have to be put through the same justice system as the plebs. What is this some kind of democracy?

I didn't read the thread, I don't care if he was joking I am just appalled that some lower class people think they can judge our heroes, these people earn next to a thousand times what you do, because they are worth a thousand times what you are. Bow down before the beautiful people you proletariat mushroom.

I read the OP and the OP alone and I was so shocked I almost spat coffee all over my copy of the Daily Mail, you should all be ashamed, lets face it if the world is ever going to progress we need to give free reign to elitocracy!

On The Whitehouse lawn, now don't get me wrong in a perfect world everyone should be allowed on the white house lawn, to pick flowers, perhaps present a posy to The President. But come on you can't just let everyone stand within shooting distance of your leader, are you aware of just how much the world has hated your leaders?

You may be right in a way, some of these people needed to be shot. But I am not the sort of person who thinks some nut in your back garden should be allowed free reign.

So what do you do allow nutters to attend the theatre or stop people from throwing bombs at one of the most hated leaders on Earth, for much of the post 1950, 20th,21st century?

If someone arrested Brad Pitt for climbing through a Vatican window into the inner courtyard no one would care. But then religion is not the most hated thing on Earth right now, per capita, and I'm not saying I hate the US, but you are. Bush fucked your ratings up no end, you are perhaps the great Satan and war monger atm, this is not meant to be anything more than the fact that you probably don't think you are part of Earth any more, and I suspect it will take a long time until you even understand why?

So long story short don't let nutters on your lawn if you are the most hated nation on Earth. :)

Now you'll probably say you are just jealous (of what), you hate the US, but the truth is I don't, it's not me you have to win over it's the rest of the world. ATM statistically country by country you are the most hated nation on Earth. Don't let "nutters" in your back garden no matter how famous they are is therefore common sense.

    ^ Carlid,

I think that most people would agree that there is wide spread hatred for the us throughout the world, and that there are reasons, both substantial and not, for that hatred. However, the issue of global contempt for the us, while a worthy subject, is off-topic on this thread.

Your point about Clooney and the Whitehouse lawn is much off target. Information in the OP was inaccurate, as I noted in this previous post on the thread

Well I would start a thread but US bashing is kinda boring and done to death. I also kinda get bored of being told I am just jealous when I live in one of the richest nations on Earth as well. I am not 5, a narcissist or particularly resentful of the US, so I will leave such things to others. Is it off topic, probably, is it related probably given the information provided.

Well if he wasn't doing anything illegal then its stupid. It's illegal to protest? Oh my God I thought this was America!

Personally I think civil disobedience is required of any true patriot anyway, when the government is in the wrong, but that's by the by. I don't even think that violent protest is wrong when there is a large degree of provocation or a good reason that it would happen, provided it doesn't just kick off because you are rabble rousing. We are living under the conservatives atm, which means riots are the norm. Two already since they came to power, looks like Margaret Thatchers record is going to fall. ;)

The difference generally between Labour and Con/Lib Dems is that they don't tend to piss off the some of the most easily politicised groups ie the working class and students, hence less riots.

I agree with this from the other thread though. I don't see that George Clooney needs to self promote, the fact is Hollywod actors tend to be very liberal and very opinionated on issues. If he was really in need of promotion to save his terribly unsuccessful career there are easier ways to go about it. ;)
