Hey, I want to tell y'all about a new label called Philosophy Major. They are dedicated to putting out high quality, innovative electronic music, and won't put up with any bullshit that could compromise the integrity of the artists on it, or the label itself. You can download Altered States Vol. 1, a compilation of what is happening in the world of Philosophy Major right now. It opens with a meticulously crafted bastardization of what "dubstep" has become. I speak of AK-87's "Internet Acid." It sounds like two cyborgs engaged in coitus climaxing simultaneously, as heard by an organism that distorts sound before it is converted into data their consciousness can comprehend.

    Other stand out tracks include

Treeclmbr - Wut Up Lucy -- An ode both to the Beatles and to the psychedelic experience. A mutilated version of the melody drifts in and out like your third eye blinking in hyperspace, while thick sludgy bass tones morph and distort themselves. They're alive!
Future Flutes - Dark Magic Pt. 2: Leon's Ghost -- Refusing to be easily categorized into an already established genre, it is an immersive and atmospheric blend of house, dubstep, chiptune, drum and bass, and whatever it is that Ratatat do.
Animalweapon - Rhen Var -- Groovy drum programming perfectly compliments chilled out synth lines. Close your eyes and you can feel yourself drifting somewhere that isn't really any where at all, and all you know is that where ever you is where ever you are not, and you love it either way. Other sounds come in and, building up a complicated soundscape that makes you think Pantha Du Prince and Shpongle had an illicit love child.
Oneiric - Somniloquy (Sleep-Talking) -- One of the labels more straight forward dubstep artists, although it's certainly not derivative. It's just so god damn well executed, you don't even care. The track lulls you with a hypnotic opening line, a ritualistic tone inducing serenity that is shattered when the bass drops like a plane falling out of the sky. Listen to it and try not to dance like you're afflicted with some sort of muscular dystrophy disorder. It's the new cinammon challenge.
Arcologist - Possessions -- Definitely a unique artist, both among the PM roster and just in general. I like to call his music "glitch gaze" but that's just some shit I made up while I was vibing to his tunes really stoned one night. I know he is a huge fan of Have a Nice Life, you can hear it in the music. But this is no homage, this is no imitation. This is pure expression. To listen to Arcologist is to enter a world of crippling self-doubt, a place where vulnerability is celebrated and accepted. It's a place where people become human.

tl;dr : This label is gonna be HUGE. You want to say you liked them before they blew up, don't you? Download Altered States Volume 1 here.

Just gave it a listen. Definitely not too bad.

Sometimes I find that electronic sort of stuff gets very repetitive and annoying but this went down pretty well. I liked "Wut Up Lucy" the most I think.
