Why is virginity put on such a pedestal?

I recently had sex for the first time, with someone I'm barely getting to know/dating. It felt so right...it was a beautiful experience! But for some reason, people flipped.the fuck outt because I'm not in love and i haven't known him for long. But the way i see it, sex is a naturl thing! It wasn't about :daisy:being i love, it was enjoying each other's company, and bodies. We are naturally very sexual creaters, so i don't see what the fuss is about?
I felt ready, i wasn't pressured, and boy, oh boy did i enjou myself. I'm happy about my.choice. I just never understood the concept of making suuuvh a huge deal about losing it! thoughs?

 

Don't assume rationality in everything people say. There's usually an underlying motive - in this case, jealousy, resentment or selfishness.

 

Congrats! Virginity is not the most important thing by a long stretch in my eye. Its just another experience like driving or flying in an aircraft. Probably has a lot to do with a variety of religions and such.

The way I see it is this: When you are ready, then go for it! Don't worry what others say/think as its not their life. Also, get as much practice with your partner as you can! Be safe and have fun!

I don't know very many people who lost their virginity in the ideal way.

Your experience sounds better than most, in fact. I wouldn't sweat other people's opinions. People will always want to judge.
