Anyone out there with ADHD care to share success stories with meditation?

I can meditate while I hike, but only briefly. I can not even begin to meditate while sitting still. I have been trying since before I was Dx'd with ADHD.

(And my ADHD is not medically treatable.)

As parents and educators search for options and alternatives, groundbreaking research is showing the effectiveness of the Transcendental Meditation technique, a non-drug approach to ADHD. Insights in Health explores the research and experiences using the Transcendental Meditation technique for ADHD.

I'm not diagnosed with ADHD, but I have quite an active mind which can't sit still for more than 10 minutes on things I wish it would, but I have not had trouble meditating while sitting still, although I cannot do it for more than an hour or so at a time, before my mind wants to move on, which is a shame.. But I was taught to tire out my muscles and tighten them (whole body) then relax and repeat my mantra. Hope this helps you :)

It's said in some Buddhist meditation teachings that simply maintaining proper erect sitting position straightens out the channels and without more that that a state of meditation will arise.

Medical science takes a do or die approach to problems and a one size fits all. Methods exist for calming the mind however, such as non strenuous sets of light hatha yoga asanas. For the first few years all sets of hatha yoga asanas should be light.

If you cannot approach meditation from a mental path then a physical one may work. If not then a musical approach may work. A musical instrument can supply as much inner harmony as a formal meditation session.
