Is it safe to camp in Morocco (like, without getting robbed or shot or anything), particularly Marrakech? Like, in a campground or just on my own out in the woods? I'm planning on going with someone for two months once I graduate, but I do NOT want to pay for a hotel for two months. Thanks!

*And for those of you who are smart, what about India?

I think Morocco would be far safer than Germany, the UK and the USA.
in traditional societies you dont have much crime. If you knock on someone's door and ask for food or water, they'd feed you for sure.

But you'd draw a lot of attention cuz you're a blonde. Dye your hair (to green ;p) or something if you dont want to be bothered by the gapers or insistent salesmen.

Morocco's crime rates are low, but living in the woods is very, very risky anywhere.

    Thanks, guys!
First: Thank you Craevyn:)That made my day!

Second: Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure because I'm going to Uganda and Ethiopia, India and Morocco all in the same 3-5 month trip, and obviously Uganda and Ethiopia would be the worst places to be camping, but I doubt I can afford a hotel for 3-5 months! I wasn't sure of the crime rate, just because I've read so much about haggling and persistant salespeopel, so I was not sure of the crime rate

PS: My hair's naturally brown, but I have highlights in it right now:)

Dont worry, you can actually make lots of money in Morroco (by teaching English and French -they're under French influence-).
I got some Aussie, American and New Zealander friends here in Istanbul, who ended up teaching english in private language courses to save money in order to extend their holidays or plan new ones. One of them has been staying here more than a year now, he has an album and learns turkish.

One of the Aussies I met in Olimpos (Antalya, Turkey) was working at the hostel (http://www.turkmenpension.com/index.htm) for accomodation and food. Her sister sold carpets in Marmaris and saved money for her trip to Ireland and etc.
Always consider working while traveling because you can not visit the museums for months and months. Plus, working with/for the local people is a far better way of interacting and learning their culture, making friends.
It also enhances your CV very much.
