ugh, i startle really easily as well. People don't even have to jump on me or anything, sometimes i'll just be chillin and if someone passes by in the room unexpectedly i'll jump and gasp in fear, and my heart goes crazy, simply cuz i saw them. i think its gonna kill me one day
I bet if kids tried to pull that same prank in a highschool in the US today the police/SWAT team would come, kids would get arrested possibly, all kinds of stuff, very different world we live in. Cool tale though, thanks for sharing.
Right... The police/SWAT team would come and lock down the building. The FBI and CIA would become involved in the ongoing investigation. While the CIA is there, massive amounts of drugs will be planted in the school cafeteria. The kids would be handed over to the DHS. The M80 would magically become a pipe bomb. The department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms would show up and the whole building would blowup. The kids that planted the nuclear weapon of mass distruction would then be deemed terrorists and be detained in some hidden off-shore location. There would then be a massive cover-up that somehow entails a high-jacked airliner and members of some middle eastern radical group. A wallet is found to prove they did it. The whole town would then be deemed terrorists for allowing the kids access to the internet and they are sent to a FEMA camp indefinitely... Somehow Faux News would twist the story around and blame it all on Obama.... Oh, and the price of gas would go up... :willy_nilly:
I never get that feeling though, seeing as I'm fearful every moment I'm awake. (plus, I have nightmares almost every time I go to sleep, so even when I'm not awake, I can't escape the feeling of being frightened. lol) Of course I can be "startled" just like most other people, but generally I'm always scared. I never feel that everything's going to be okay...
I could see the news story now. "Six students arrested and two complete school districts close for two days because of bomb scare yeilding real explosives"
No kidding. Good posts. They called my group into the principals office-about 15 of us -after the two that got caught were discovered. Principal said--"dammit-when are you people going to quit the mischief and settle down to work"?? One of us said-"when the peanuts get ripe"!! We started snickering ,so he just threw us out then and I guess he thought there was no further use in talking to us fools. Man--the 50s were so differant.
I used to scare easily as a kid, I remember the classic one of hiding behind the sofa when the Daleks or the Cybermen came on Doctor Who, but after some traumatic mental experiences as an adult I've trained myself over recent years to be calm in most situations, which is helpful for me but at the same time it does dull the senses. Sometimes I think I could do with a rocket up my arse to wake me up a bit.
I found out how I react when startled with a REALLY LOUD NOISE!! I was at the computer and # 1 son snuck up behind me and turned on the siren on a bullhorn. Within a split second,I kicked my chair sideways and lunged at him with my fists up ready to kick somethings ass. Actually proud of myself for going into immediate attack mode instead of cringing. My lizard brain still works.
