Over the past week or so i have been having this recurring theme in my dreams. In my dream it will realise that it is my birthday, wedding or graduation (some important event relating to me) and i will realise that everyone had forgotten about it. Now instead of being upset that noone remembered, i am enormously relieved about it. And when i say relieved, boy do i mean relieved. What could this mean about me?
Sounds like something I would dream. My first thought is something about being afraid of responsibility, but it's more than that. I think maybe you tend to fear "success", in the sense of the dramatic and sudden life changes involved. You probably have, in your own way, found your "comfort zone" and are afraid of having to face a change. Okay, that's my try at "Magic Eight-Ball" answers,,haha.
Thanks for that interpretation Seems seems pretty spot on and explains a lot in regards to my attitude towards the things going on in my life right now.
Yeah,,see,,the downside of "success", related to things like "graduation", or a "wedding", or even a "birthday", is that we are growing, and as we grow, we also take on more responsibility. Responsibility is a fearsome thing, when we're not certain of our own capacity, and whether or not we have the wherewithal to continue "successfully", once the doors are open. It's like someone who suddenly becomes wealthy. You know that some are ready for wealth, while others, as soon as they get it, squander it on poor investments, unwise relationships, etc. I remember a book that I confess I did not read, but simply glanced at,,Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich". It details how one needs to prepare for wealth, in order to be ready for it when it comes. One needs to "nurture" an attitude that befits a person of means. Otherwise, the shoe simply does not fit, and wealth can disappear overnight, or at least in a fairly short period of time. Success carries with it a kind of burden, to act responsibly, in order to support further success. When one starts a business, for example, one may simply have a good idea, or a talent in some particular area. Based on that idea or talent, one may experience a sudden success. But how far one can go with that initial success remains to be seen. It's often dependent upon how one sees oneself. Some, who have a lower sense of self-worth, and a lesser degree of expectation for oneself, may not be able to sustain a successful future. When the success grows to a certain point, they may feel as if they haven't a clue what direction to take, with their newly found achievement, and sit on it as if it's an egg that is going to hatch, rather than work out a business plan. A business plan has to account for the possibility of growth, and marketability, and work out the details. Otherwise, the possibility of growth is questionable, and there will be a "ceiling" on their success. It's much easier to simply remain in one's "comfort zone", carrying on "as usual". The burden of success can be overwhelming.
it could mean that you really are lucky to not have people pestering you all the time. that it relieves you of the burden of having to pretend to enjoy they're doing so.
