It is a real test not seeing a god. I just don't know why everyone is so convinced that it won't happen to them. It is almost like we humans don't believe that we can know this moment and god, at the same exact time. We are afraid that we'll either forget our lives or that'll we'll never see god up close. It is a shame the situation that we are in. It requires no belief for you to follow my train of thought. I'm just some stupid idiot fumbling through the world saying things that seemingly don't relate to social issues or economics at all... <sniffle> Please rip my brain out of my head for me. I need to be controlled! You girls and guys can have it for dinner if it suits you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jadvt7CbH1o"]Devo - [I Can't Get No] Satisfaction
My two cents on this off-topic subject: People have been harmed and killed in the name of god but that doesn't necessarily lead to the sole conclusion that all belief in god is wrong or that god doesn't exist. A reasonable conclusion could be that some "believers" wrongly think they have god's approval and are doing god a service when they really do not have god's approval. So the cause of killing in god's name could originate from the "believer" and not god.
Nobody can seem to agree on much of anything in this world. The awakened Asian thinks that the essence of the cosmos is essentially empty, while the awakened Westerner thinks that the essence of the cosmos is essentially god. Opposition exists in seemingly every direction: good into bad and bad into good. I have been walking many a year to figure a way out.
The thing about awakening and enlightenment is this: the longer that you don't know you have it, the better it becomes when you know that you do. Again, I'm not intentionally trying to subvert the topic. I simply thought that if you wanted to get things going well in the world (with social issues and economics) that it might help if I helped improve some insight and eyesight. I didn't walk this path for nothing! :sombrero: Forgive me, please. My "religious discourse" is over. I love you. :toilet:
Like on almost every other issue, Romney has no opinions of his own. He is only reciting what he thinks the Republican base wants to hear. The one exception is that he "knows" that rich people are superior to everyone else. The sign at the bottom of the cartoon is particularly disturbing; the one that says "Protect Our Families". I have seen this slogan before. In their twisted minds, who is being protected? And what are they being protected from? Do they think that if homosexual marriage is allowed, that it might lead someday to heterosexual marriage being banned?
This kid here blows the "traditional marriage" proponents out of the water. http://www.zachwahls.com/?page_id=273 On the other hand, here's a handy chart with biblical references for "traditional" relationships.
"but in the case of abortion I don't think thats getting overturned anytime soon. Its just something conservatives like to bring up to take attention away from the bigger issues." I completely agree with this statement. The legality of abortion debate is just a destraction by conservatives so we don't debate something that may actually change things.
I think our future may be better than our past? I have a good feeling about it. I like to stay optimistic.
So you end what would otherwise have been a statement with a question mark? That would depend upon how you define 'it'. A little balance between optimism and pessimism allows one to be better prepared when unintended consequences occur. When the optimistic "Plan A" fails, it's never hurts to have a pessimistic determined "Plan B,C,..." to fall back on.
