i was wondering if anyone knew where to find out about how to make your own clothes...like do you follow a certain book or something. peace out nicole
Just go to your local fabric store, get a pattern, some new fabric, and follow the pattern. If you can read, you can sew. I work at A Jo-Ann fabrics in crystal lake. I have learned so much from being there. But yeah just get a pattern. The very first thing I ever sewed by myself was a pair of fleece pants that i just made up my own pattern and they turned out pretty good. Ever since then I have been sewing away....Ill try to post a pic of my newest pants that I made there soooooooooooooooo cute.
I've never used a pattern, but I' love to learn how. I'd say try making one thing with and one without. You can get so many different styles if you use patterns, not just a-line or wrap skirts, spinner dresses and apron tops. But with those styles, you can make some changes and make really inventive and pretty things without a pattern. definatly get threads for heads, I don't have it, but I hear amazing things about it, and really as far as hippie threads go, that's all you're gonna need to know. good luck, let us know what you end up making!
wow, thatnks for the thanks and returning to the thread. That is rare these days. Guess we got too big and lost our manners. does anyone know if Lauren is taking orders now? her website is on August.
I do believe Lauren is taking orders for the book currently. You may want to email her and ask her though since it has been awhile since the site was updated.
i just bought the book about 2 months ago....i've yet to receive it, but i blame that on the holiday mail thing. So, i would assume she's still taking orders for it.
