Table salt is fine... Sea salt is better but not necessary. Tourmaline has the capability of absorbing negative energy... A salt bath overnight will remove them, grounding them, however you want to look at that. (Salt = Earth) This ability of absorbing negative energy helps keep them from getting to you... Kind of like a shield if you wear it or carry it with you. A salt bath on occasion, especially after a rather stressful encounter grounds the energy out, thus refreshing the crystal. The reason to do this to a new piece is you don't know what it was subjected to before you got it... This is true of all new crystals.
I too just bought the biggest chunk of tourmaline, I can't wait till it arrives. Also, you can just bury it inthe earth to completely cleanse it, that or let it sit out in the moonlight ..
The big piece will be kept by mybed side to sleep and meditate with, and I will carry small smaller pieces around with meeverywherewhichialreadydo with crystals lol my coworkers think I'm a wackjob walkingaroundwith stones in my pocketshahah
Cool yeah a lotta ppl find stones n crystals 2 be skeptical , but it's subtle stuff and sometimes takes time
The "sit out in the moonlight" is basically a charging mechanism more than a grounding one... From my perspective anyways. Burying it in soil does work as well as the salt, although some people don't have a safe place to bury something outside and "potting soil" inside is not quite the same thing as earth.
I've found those methods of cleansing work well for me. 1.salt 2.burying in earth 3.moonlight my preferred method for grounding and cleansing smaller stones/gems is a bowl of mixed sand I collected from various places I have been to including White Sands in New Mexico and the Valley of Fire (black volcanic sand) Myrtle Beach, River Sand, etc. I put them in the sand and leave them outside several days until I "feel" they are ready. For me this gives a balance of cleansing and charging. ~~peace
Thanks for the info guys, I have yet ore questions... How does the moon charge crystals, in what directions should the crystals be faced and when working with them, is there a limit? Like one , two ata time for most efficiency?
Crystals are great to enjoy the colors in candlelight and enter deep optic meditations, a bit like stars and flowers
i have an azurte bracelet and a moss agate bracelet. i stopped feeling the strong vibes from them since i got em a while back. how can i re activate or activate them ?? please help
I was gifted with a really large, tight bunch of quartz crystals years ago. I find that placing crystals around this - it sits on a wooden holder "charges" them. Really, to charge a crystal, (jmo, now) - you need to first cleanse it and then use your intent to charge it. Different crystals are sort of naturally geared for certain things...just like Ty and Aeri have mentioned. I think that if (when) you come across a crystal/rock that "can't be charged"...then you are just not supposed to use it. Find some nice earth and give it back. As you need, you will receive. For me, placing crystals in bright sun, from sun-up to sun-down was good to energize them, if that makes sense. If you are interested in rocks and crystals...use your gut, and find a book you like. The book by Melody has already been mentioned, and I have read many of Scott Cunningham's books. I have some other books but am too lazy to look them up right now , but I know I've enjoyed reading Cunningham the best through the years.
thanks for the advice and recommendation. do you believe certain stones dont match with people ? im worried i cant use these stones
Two thoughts - Jared, turn the point on the crystal to the direction you wish the energy to go. Lynn, be careful with direct sun. It can damage some stones.
Yes, Aeri, you are right. I plead late-night non-thinking ability. :mickey: But, the ones (one type of stone) I would always feel were energized in the sun were clear quartz crystals. (I found some slightly "hazy" ones in a creek once, but they still are fine working stones. I've loved rocks all my life. When I was 1 1/2 yrs old, my Mama found me wondering the yard and noticed my cheeks getting bigger...I was putting little rocks in my mouth. She said it scared her to death, and she never thought she'd get them all out. ha I believe I've loved rocks ever since.
