http://moms.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/10/11640864-times-breast-feeding-toddler-cover-spurs-shock-talk?lite/ Just curious as to peoples opinions with mothers who breast feed to the point where the child will remember breast feeding. In my opinion and from my personal experience with what I've seen from my ex and her two kids it is extremely damaging/disturbing. I enjoyed drinking my ex girlfriends milk while having sex with her and stuff but the way her two year old would act towards her breast was frightening.. and her five year old daughter who still wanted it and was resentful that she couldn't have it anymore. When she first started breast feeding her son, her daughter freaked the fuck out on her newborn... Nothing healthy there in my observation. I really doubt that the lady in the above picture is doing her child any good. I know a man whose mother would have her breasts exposed around him when he was a child and he said it really screwed with him because everytime he'd see the chest of another female he would see his mother. Thoughts/Opinions?
For At Least 20 Years I Was A Subscriber To Time Magazine. Nowdays, I Occasionally Read It On The Interboobs.... Over The Years There Have Been Some Very Contraversial Covers, But In My Humble Opinion, This One Is Scraping The Bottom Of The Barrell.... Tis Blatantly Obvious The Kid Is At Least 5 Years Old.... *methinks at this point, pedo-bear should introduce himself* Cheers Glen.
Chimpanzees are the primate closest in size to humans and also the most closely genetically related. Chimpanzees breastfeed their offspring for 6 times the length of gestation. In humans, that would be: 4.5 years of breastfeeding (6 times the 9 months of gestation).
Exactly, dont even get me started on this freakin topic I'll just loose it Pedo under the smokescreen of new age motherhood Fuckin Breeders
You don't think the cover just *might* be photoshopped? It wouldn't be hard to do for the best artists, which Time can certainly afford. EDIT: Just saw the caption on the bottom, so it's real. But the kid's only 3 so no big deal.
I Don't Think Remembering Breast Feeding Would Worry Me, In Fact I Would Be Proud To Say My Mother Mothered Me On The Teat, BUT, This Poor Kid Has Just Had His Pic On The Front Page Of One Of The Most Well Known Magazines On This Globe. Regardless Of How Much Money She Was Paid, And Regardless Of How Much Will Eventually Trickle Down To The Kid, This Kid's Life Is Totally Screwed.... His School Life, Will Be An Absolute "HELL ON EARTH".... Thanks For Nothing Mom..... Cheers Glen.
I am not saying having vague memories of breastfeeding would be a bad thing, but this kids almost 4 he is going to have vivid memories. And yes your spot on with the upcoming trauma this kids going to receive from his peers.
It's disgusting in my opinion. That poor child! That the title are you mom enough? So if I don't fo what she does that makes me less of a mother? Sad sad
That is a big deal.. that is when my ex stopped breastfeeding her daughter and she went ballistic and to this day has a longing for her mothers breasts. She is 6 years old now. I think I saved her 2 year old son from really getting whacked out in that way.. had her cut him off before he'd remember being a total fiend for his mothers chest. Kind of funny that gal is a year younger than my ex. I'd have nothing to do with her, even though she is attractive, like my ex.. I bet they are both as equally toxic.
You all are just jealous of that little kid. That mother is hot. I'm all for attachment parenting, big time. But there are varying degrees of it and I did subscribe to some of it. I breastfed both of mine to 1 year old and a few months. With attachment methods, the biggest benefit is how secure the kids become. That level of security makes it so they can explore their world without fear that comes with distrust. It sets the stage also to have a good sense of self, communicate well, be genuine with others, not be brutally competitive, and cherish the simple things in life.
Well yes, I wouldn't mind putting my mouth on that womans breast... but the way you explain how you used extended breastfeeding seems rather responsible, as opposed to the woman on the cover.
That is one giant 3 year old... I think maybe if it were a neccessity.... but its not. Children can eat solid food and adult meals by the time they are 3. They can drink from a sippee cup, its not like 3 year olds even need bottles anymore if they're bottle fed. It seems completely unnecessary to me. I bathed with my mother until I was 4 or so. I clearly remember her boobies. I think if I were still sucking at those boobies until I was 4 and could remember it, it would seem really fucking weird to me now.
Exactly.. one year and a couple months doesn't qualify as extended breast feeding. A year is the recommended amount of time to breast feed a child. I'd say a year and a half is a healthy max.. going beyond that things can get disturbing as I witnessed first hand.
And here is where the breast is better comes in. not getting into it in depth, but I couldn't breast feed my kids so they had formula. Are you saying my kids are less secure then yours? I beg to disagree. This topic touches a raw nerve with me
Of course not. Attachment parenting is what I was talking about. Extreme followers do extended breastfeeding. I didn't go to that extreme but I am a huge proponent for breast feeding. Nor did I subscribe to other extremes but I am a huge proponent for aspects of attachment parenting. Of which I implemented, and I feel it resulted in secure kids. I always question why this topic touches raw nerves. People automatically feel they are being judged.
