hey guys! i've been wondering, is auburn hair color technically red hair or brown hair? for example in my case my natural hair is auburn (reddish brown color), in the sunlight it's definitely reddish, a very light color, but on some pictures it's very dark chestnut brown. plus I have very white almost transparent skin, i never ever get tanned even if I try.I have no freckles though. as far as i know, there are no redheads in my family (tho i've heard that my great-great grandpa had red hair). it would be nice if I was a natural redhead
My hair is Auburn and I've always considered myself a Redhead. "Red hair occurs on approximately 1–2% of the human population.[1][2] It occurs more frequently (2–6%) in people of northern or western European ancestry, and less frequently in other populations. Red hair appears in people with two copies of a recessive gene on chromosome 16 which causes a mutation in the MC1R protein. Red hair varies from a deep burgundy through burnt orange to bright copper. It is characterized by high levels of the reddish pigment pheomelanin and relatively low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_hair
