Howdy, I have a few questions regarding straight hair and dreads. My hair is completely straight, very silky and very thin, despite this I'm trying to grow dreads. I'm not sure when I started but I'd say over 4-5 months, I've been using the neglect method, not combing it and washing it with water. I've started to get about 6 half-dreads, they're small clump that feel like dreads and are about the same size (some are starting to fuse together) but for the first and last few centimeters the hair is straight, also the hair on the back of my head is completely straight. So, will these dreads finish themselves? Will I be able to get full dreads? - Peace and Love :afro:.
Any tips to help it along? Or is absolutely nothing the best method? Also, while I have straight hair I'd rather my hair doesn't get too long, how could I keep it at the same length?
Slip A Pure Wool Sweater Over Your Pillow, Tis Said It Speeds Up The Locking Process.... Cheers Glen.
Let it be wild and do it's own beautiful thing eh...Neglected things usually are not cared for.My girlfriend's hair was probably twice as silky as you could imagine.I was almost sad to have her tell me she was going to change it.90% of her head is dreaded quite well now. You'll get there,it just takes longer for some. much luck to you though
my girlfriend has hair very similar to what your describing although hers is a little on the thick side. she's been letting her hair go now for about a month or 2 and her hairs already knotting like crazy
I neglected for about 12-18 months, then my gf did a twist & rip session on it and 6 months later it's almost fully dreadlocked, but not quite.. I have very slightly curly hair (only shows when it 6-12 months long) And my dreads are about the same length as my hair was a year ago, if not a little shorter, so once it starts to dread it will eat up length. So yeah, if you are really wanting to go the neglect route, it's important not to be in any sort of hurry
