Have a question about the patch,im going to have to somehow stretch out a few days till refills and was wondering if anyone had removed a patch for a couple of days and seal it backup air tight in a ziplock, and then put it back on till it was useless?I also get the ones with the gel in them, might try a different pharmacy next time and get the others, then i could just cut so much and stretch them out.

If you need to make them last I would say cut them into strips and smoke the gel IN REALLY SMALL AMOUNTS!! LIKE PIN HEAD SIZE!! VERY IMPORTANT !! Or just put a little strip on your gums i did that once when it wasn't a gel one and that worked well, I would suggest keeping the gel. I have heard from several ppl that the gel patches are way better!

Thanks for your reply, but i dont think i will try any of those methods,i have read where to many people die from smoking fent and tampering with the gel.I was just asking if anyone has removed one for about two days and then put it back on,I can leave a patchon for 4or 5 days and get by,so i was going to try and remove the patch halfway through and put it back on in two days.

I use the Mylan patches, the ones without gel.I wear mine for 48hrs then switch like my script says to.I also save the old ones by putting them back on the plastic strips they come on,put them back in the package, turn the torn edge down and then put the whole thing in a plastic baggie. Now mine are the 75mcg patches so they're a little weaker than yours. But I have pulled them back out and worn them again but I have to put on 2 of the used ones or add a used one to the one I've already worn for 48hrs.It does help, but I have to use something to make it stick,Askinaderm works great if you get them free from Mylan,or even big old bandaids from the dollar store. This will usually get me through an extra day when need be.But since youre patches are stronger and I dont know your tolerance, you might try half a patch instead of a whole one first.Any signs of trouble, pull it off quick, but I havent had to worry about that.
dont wear an old one and a new one at the same time, you're just gonna raise your tolerance higher than your script and get further behind.

Thank you tech, thats the info i am fishing for,i use tegaderm to cover all my patches,it can be expensive but that stuff works great.I amgoing to just get the fentanyl in my system for a day or so and them remove the patch for a day or two and then put it back on.I am very careful with these patches, but i cant get my doc to approve every 48hour change and that sucks,so thats why i come up short at times, after 48 hours things start to go downhill. Thanks again techn 1,be safe.

What brand patches do you use?If you can get Mylan, the Askinaderm covers are free, you just gotta call Mylan the first time then send in a letter they send with your first order after that.

The only brand my pharmacy carries is the watson brand, she said prices have went up and most insurance people have around here will only cover this brand anyway.I think it bull, but the pharmacy is within walking distance of where i live so that helps alot. The other pharmacies are miles away,i have been on these patches for years now and have tried a couple other brands,so i really think the watson work fine, would be nice if i could change every 48hrs but that aint going to happen,so im gonna ask for stronger immediate pain meds, that appointment is in june, but thanks again techn 1.

Well,i tried to put on a patch for a day and a half, and them remove it and seal it back up,so i went to wear it again and had it sticking to me very well, sorry to say it does not work.I would have been better off just leaving it on,so do not try this,it was a waste.I think once you break that contact to the skin, that is it,so i was the the test dummie and it dont work, cant wait to get my refills tommorrow,i hope everything goes as planned.

Sorry it didnt work for you.It can and does work for me,but as I posted,I have to use TWO used patches or add a used one with a fresh one to bump up the effects of the fresh patch. And this isn't going to be as strong as a fresh new patch, ever(unless you slap on a bunch of them). When I wear two of the used patches, its enough to help with pain AND keep me outta withdrawl.I've gone several days swapping out 2 used patches at a time for several days and managed to maintain fair pain relief(not as good as a new patch but much better than no patch) and stay out of withdrawl until refill time.
I wear my patches for 2 days then pull 'em and store 'em,I have about 20 saved up right now. When I put on a new patch on its own in the morning,I may add a 2nd patch(used) on the 2nd day in the evening, this stretches both to 3 days of use, with decent pain relief, but once again, not quite as much as a fresh patch. You are correct tho, once it's been pulled, that bond isn't quite as good,I agree with someone else I read from that its possibly the dead skin, oils etc. forming a barrier between you and the glue(medicine).I always use the Askinaderm covers which seem to keep it kinda moist underneath it maybe it gives better contact that way?
If you have some patches saved up,try different things to experiment SAFELY!,put the used patch on the same spot as one you just took off, wash the adhesive side of the patch to remove oils etc. before reapplying. It may take some time to figure out what works for you,but it does work,or I'll say it works for SOME people,me included.
Keep fighting the good fight and hopefully you'll get a real honest to goodness sympathetic doctor in your area some day soon.
