I THINK all organic shampoos are non-residue. Don't quote me on that. I just started mine as well and was having the same question.

I have some Mira and Organix (Organix you can find pretty much anywhere. Wal-mart has it, I'm pretty certain Kroger does as well and Mira I believe I got at a Kroger Marketplace) that I think will work fine.

I know most drug stores carry the main one they recommend in the Sticky up top, called Dr. Bronners. I may just grab that one sometime, I just really like Organix and Mira.

I believe Yes To Carrots works as well, probably better I just didn't like how it didn't lather. That one you can find at Walmart and drugstores.

But I need to know for sure on this as well. Anyone?

I did a baking soda wash today and I can't tell you how much it's helped. They feel tighter already.

Bicarb makes my hair too soft.
    I'm in the T-gel crowd.

I just tend to pick anything on offer at the Wholefood store near me. Most of the organic/natural stuff tends to be free of junk :)

After spending most of my time on this forum dissing shampoos, both non and residue, I've been using Head and Shoulders anti-dandruff for the last couple of months which has actually worked really well, don't know what it's like for new dreads though. I don't think I'll be using it again though once this bottle's gone. Apparently Proctor and Gamble aren't very nice to animals :(

OP, like the other's said, if you want residue free, baking soda's probably best if it works for you, some people don't. It's certainly the cheapest option though.

P&G are based near me, and I don't think they are too kind to little furry things. Well... my vegan brother doesn't buy any of their stuff so I assume that's why :D

i dont really no either and first time i washed my new backcombed dreads was today, i used the organic non SLS shampoo i had and after some baking soda. Looks less greasy and smells better haha stil have lil dandraft but happy my dreads are mostly stil in tact! I heard if i just leave my dreads to grow naturaly now since my hair so straight it might not lock up the new hair on its own is that true? thatly suck!

Any shampoo will cause a residue. Keep two or three in your arsenal and switch em out every couple of days. It'll make your scalp happy. :)
