There's a new computer virus that is being called the "most complex" virus to ever hit the Internet. Dubbed "Flame" this virus has infected computers mostly in the Mideast, including Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and others.

Since this virus contains 20 times as much sophisticated code as the Stuxnet, it's most likely a US military project. The virus itself is 20 gigabytes of code! It has appeared in sensitive government computers as well as those of individuals.

It can " can gather data files, remotely change settings on computers, turn on computer microphones to record conversations, take screen shots and copy instant messaging chats."

The Flame virus went undiscovered for years due to its sophistication. The US has not been victimized by this virus yet (as far as anyone is willing to admit.)

So they can see your holiday photos, hear people shaving their legs and arguing about who has the car keys? Brilliant. :D

I think I'd notice if 20 gigs were suddenly re-allocated to some new program. Most of my partitions are just 20 gigs.

Plus, I don't have a mic on my computer. All they'd get is me typing some inane shit here on HF.

I'm thinking it's so big because it can replace core functions of any operating system. So they've included various "customized" operating systems in there so that they have secure backdoors that no anti-virus can discover. In other words it's on the scale of an operating system, which is many programs combined into a complete integrated system.

Also it can do so many things, it can probably learn/evolve as well and add more to its core as needed. Thus it keeps growing, esp. as more features get added and new technologies are integrated into it.

Gotta be a long-term pentagon project, imo.

20gb? Thats over 3 600 000 000 lines of code. Hard to believe.
    Linux has aprox 254 000 000.

After reading more details of which places were attacked, it looks more like an Israeli op since the west bank was one of the targets, not Israel. Apparently Iran has now a way to detect the virus and eliminate it and has offered to provide the fix. Yeah, like who wants to put Iranian gov't software on their machines...

I think it may actually be 20 megs, not 20 gigs.

If it's true, they probably mean the virus reports to a remote database that is 20GB.
