What do I do? Celebrating is not an option for me. Two options.... 1. Completely ignore it and stay home with no television showing anything relating to this. 2. Take Billskidog and my MacPac Microlight and go (inter-state) to Cornwall. Millions of £'s/$'s have been spent in the UK already and we still are a few days away from the ''big spend''. I think it is a hugely irresponsible and shameful waste of money which is just part of why I wish not to be 'involved' with the 'Celebrations' on any level whatsoever. Comments appreciated
Ah yes! Liz's do. Personally I've battened down the hatches and will only be emerging to walk my dog. Suppose it's too much to hope that the royal barge sinks in the Thames and we get rid of the lot of them. Cornwall sounds good!
It's a London thing, as most things generally are. Living so far from the action, its something of an irrelevence, and its raining anyway, so I'm hiding away for the duration. For those unfortunate enough to be in London, there's a big anti-monarchy demo on Sunday: http://www.republic.org.uk/updates/?event=protest-at-the-pageant And I'm planning a weekend of Fuck The Jubilee blogging: http://alchemyandaccident.wordpress.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN1YipyJs2Q"]FRANKENSTEIN SOUND LAB - God Save The Queen - YouTube
Thank fuck I deserted! Remember taking my children to the zoo on the day of charles and diana's wedding. Great day out - almost empty and an excellent opportunity for the children to see everything without having to be lifted up or us as parents to push through to the front with them held aloft. How much is this "thing" costing the taxpayer? Who wants to see a pair of decrepit old cunts waving from a some horse drawn carriage anyway? Enjoy!
Time for her to give it up methinks, but straight down to William and Kate, they should be King and Queen Totally bypass Charles and Camila, they are just too weird
The whole fucking set up is weird. It's the 21st century and a whole family and their hangers-on expect the tax payer to pick up the tab for every fucking thing they do. Time for a massive push towards a republic I think!
screw 'em all. i'm not celebrating such gross and unfair inherited wealth and privilege. nothing against them as people so much as against the institution of monarchy and the media which constantly invites us to give a shit about the minutiae of their lives. they wouldn't watch MY wedding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z2M_hpoPwk"]Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen (Studio) - YouTube
Well, I tend to think it's kind of a waste, but I'm an American-remember we chunked the monarchy over 2 and a quarter centuries ago I suppose it's a waste unless you see it as a big morale-boosting exercise for the nation, or an exuce to have a big party-are you a Republican?
I'm so glad that they live over there. We only gotta put up with them for about a week, every two or three years. There's a good chunk of people here that would love to get rid of the monarchy. Though, that would involve a remodeling of our parliament system.
It's difficult to see it as a morale-boosting exercise.... unemployment rising, services vanishing, our glorious leaders exhorting austerity - and then we're supposed to turn round and celebrate, at our own expense, the fact that one of the richest women in the world has managed to cling to an unelected, unearned life of privilige for 60 years. This might be seen as being a little insensitive, to say the least. And yes I'm a republican [though not in the American political sense].
Yes! So I am not a big bad person from the big bad city! My city all dressed up today, ffs, losing the will to live now....well kinda
It always rains on these occasions... the obvious conclusion to draw is that she causes it. So yet another good reason to abolish the monarchy - better weather. :sunny: .
Managed to successfully ignore everything so far - whilst out and about and am very careful not to see anything on the tv too - happy days
