is it wrong to prefer the company of my cat(animals) to people?

I don't wanna come off as a wack job, but I much prefer the company of my cat or animals in general to most people. They aren't pretentious, you don't have to worry about them screwing you over and they accept you for who you are. They give you unconditional love and loyalty, people can't comprehend that idea, do something nice for someone and they wonder what you want.

I think it's pretty common for people to prefer to be with animals at least some of the time.

A study showed that people had lower levels of stress around animals than with even people that they really liked

I've got a zoo of stuffed animals that mean more to me than people and friends and my fish tank and fishes mean more too. It's such an effort communicating with people.

I think i would prefer a cat over the typical "person", always wanted one but never made the effort to get one. Maybe in the future, her name will be Isis

I was in the process of setting up a community project- after living in a city for 7 years I feel like now I would rather set up an animal sanctuary...

Animals need loving homes and it sounds like you are providing just that!

actually what I was refering to is most people would not or could not understand receiving unconditional loyality/love for no reason, someone doing it "just because" is a foreign concept to most.

 

Absolutely with you here. I usually live with animals as flatmates. People give you the shits in the living environment.
Studies show that animals fulfill the need we have for human contact. The bonus' are, they love you unconditionally, don't talk, don't argue, no power struggles, they don't drink or smoke, cost little and don't depress you when they fall asleep on the lounge. Don't have a say in what you watch on TV.... only thing they can't do is pay rent.
Give me the animals any day. Apparently 30% of women perfer a dog to a partner. I'm in that 30%. Partner was a dog, but a talking, opinionated, controlling, non rent paying one so.......out with him!!......here kitty kitty, bye bye arseholes.......

 

Much prefer animals. My little dog goes everywhere with me...great little buddy.

 

I don't know that many people. On the other hand . . .

i like people, get on with most of them, but animals don't cause war, lie, cheat, or take huge bonuses like the bankers whilst others in this world starve to death.

 

Are you kidding? You're completely normal-it's most of the 'people' that you might have to associate with if you didn't have a cat that aren't. Be happy that you have your furry pal-my dog is my best friend.
