The movie industry made more money last year than they ever have b4 even tho they had fewer folks going to the movies. The inflated cost's of 3d movies is what drove it and finally after many years of trying Games made more money than movies and Black Ops was the fastest grossing product to a billion in sales EVER it took only 11 days and did 428 million in the first 48 hours lol. The industry giants see this and I only hope the movie/game tie ins get a little better than the trash they put out,you would think they learned their lesson when they dumped 3 million copy's of E.T. in a land file back in the day when the game sucked so bad NO ONE would buy it. Time will tell I guess. Be Well Wags
It's ok but bad for the brain and eyes. I avoid it but if a good movie like Tron comes out, I must go see it in 3d, or else it's not worth watching!
3-D is all in our head. we think it makes the movie cooler, but really, it'd be just as cool in 2-D. 3-D is just an excuse for the world to suck money from our wallets. if the movie is stressing 3-D, it's usually because they don't feel it'll sell like a regular movie. don't get sucked into it, because i don't want the trip to the movies to be 2x more pricey than it already is in the future!
What's the point of 3-D when you can take a dank good puff before the movies? I swear I can make out the layers when I'm blazed without the 3-D. And let's not forget psychedelics. Sometimes technology can be a cheap imitation of what our brains are capable of. I'll only go for 3-D if it's in IMAX. The huge screen and resolution is worth it. And there are some good movies that are coming soon to the format. Glad there are directors like Christopher Nolan, though, that choose to not use 3-D at all.
This is how I feel and if given the option will see the 2-D version of the movie. I have seen both versions of the same movie and it is just as satisfying without the 3-D effect - in other words, it is a gimmick just like it was in the '50s with those red & green cardboard glasses. I especially don't like the computerized 3-D that was added to a movie not shot originally - like that horrid Clash of the Titans. It works much better without the crappy 3-D. Again a money-grabbing gimmick. I keep waiting for it to go out of vogue again when everyone tires of the novelty and tire of paying more money for no real benefit to the movie. That said, I did enjoy Avatar in 3-D Imax. But I also enjoyed it in 2-D.
I't pretty much a gimmick but I do enjoy the effect. Our theater seems to alternate movies 3D some days and 2D other days. A side benefit is the new 3D digital projectors themselves are much sharper, clearer and brighter than the old analog film projectors. You still get all that benefit even if it's showing in 2D. I understand about peoples eyes getting tired and someone said you need to "relax" your eyes. The problem is the screen is always a fixed focal point but the 3D illusion tricks your eyes into trying to converge off the screen on to virtual space in front or behind the screen. There's always a conflict between your eyes with distance and focus. So it does help if you can try not to focus too intensely. Some people are better at it than others. I can kind of zone out pretty easily. Having a couple drinks or something to mellow out should help a person who gets headaches. Definitely don't try it while tweaking out on any stimulants.
if you mean like Nintendo 3DS, it's total crap. There's a slider for various degrees of blurriness and 'off'. Off is the best option!
I wouldn't want a 3d tv. At the movies once in a while is fine, but it will definitely hurt my eyes after a while.
Went to the theaters in the firs time in ages and saw snow white , believe it or not, still haven't even seen a 3d movie. One does look really cool through coming out next Friday, begins with a p
