I've been reppin kingspade and kmk for years now. Going back and looking at lyrics, some of their stuff just seems too controversial. Too cutting-edge. Too "This isn't the real us, but we're going to say some messed up stuff anyways" You can tell they're good dudes, you can tell they've got awesome charisma, but why are some of their lyrics so controversial (and i'm not talking about the ganja references) when you can obviously see the good guy in each and every one of them What is the scenario? Is the record company making them say stuff they don't back? I know for a fact they've got the good guy within their soul....what in the world is happening to their lyrics?!?!?! We all see the good in the band.....i say let that out-shine everything else :sunny:
^ Lol I sound like a 14 year-old "reppin kingspade" Hope they bounce back, they've always been talented, just controversial
I think their lyrics tend to be pretty shitty; and don't see the controversy you mean. However, they do a lot of various styles, are good at keeping to their specialty, and have had some really good songs over the years.
I heard Daddy X used to be the signer of a straight edge band, so I find it funny he has made his money off pot songs. Guess he changed his mind at some point. Their old stuff is good, the newer stuff not as much. I also don't see the controversy, they have never really said much in their songs other then "weed is good and should be legal". Now that Corporate Avenger side project they had was a bit different. I remember they had a song called The Bible Is Bullshit on that one for example.
I saw KMK live before ever hearing any of their music. I had a great time and enjoyed the show. But when I got home and looked up the songs I heard at the show, I found that I don't like many of their recorded songs. They sounded completely different (better) live. This might be because The Expendables, and Insolence opened for them (two Raggae/rock/metal bands) and KMK were trying to cater to the audience.
I first heard them when i was like 12. i still listen to them from time 2 time, although i think there forgotten freshness is there best album
