I have 3 major exams coming up and i cannot concentrate And this is just freaking me out. I cannot sit with a book for more than 20 minutes before I loose my concentration... How do you usually study? and do you have any solutions for my em. inability to concentrate?
Losing concentration in 20 minutes is okay if you study efficiently. Most texts are either for dumbs or too long. Start with the (relatively) interesting subject and ask yourself questions about it. Thus, your eyes and brain would be searching for an answer in the text. Then just underline the few sentences you think are essential. After 20 minutes walk around in the house and reward yourself with bits of chocolate. Sugar (glucose) helps your brain work more efficiently before you sit to study again
i really don't know...i used to study by just reading over the text, going over quizes and tests...but since i had my last concushion, i can't do that for some reason. just reading doesn't help me anymore. so now i have to figure out a new way to study for next semester. finding new ways to study sucks big time!!!
I wait untill the last minute but once in awhile like this semester that bites me in the ass. But usually I just stay up everynight before exams and if I sit still for a set amount of time I let myself do whatever I want for awhile...usually it's posting on here or smoking a cigarette
i start with the stuff i think i'm most familiar with so i feel mor emotivated and from my lecture notes and books, i try to make notes from these in a brainstorm way: if you have to remeber, for example...things in relation to marxism (sorry, sociologist here) so the word marxism goes in a bubble in the middle of the page and i'd write everything that i need to learn around the bubble with arrows pointing at the bubble with the main concept. that's one of my methods....the other one is taking notes and using pens of diffrent colours for different things, to make it more interesting (if that's possible) and it helps you remember stuff, if you happen to have a photographic memory.... remember to take breaks, every half an hour, or whenever you feel like it, but they shouldnt be for more than 15 mins or you'll lose interest.... try to revise without music or anything that can distract you too. but well, i've heard some people like some chill out music while studying, thats cool all this reminds me that i've exams in january and i've to revise too...but i'm too fucking high to be bothered now. cheerio.
I hate studing, or just having to do it. I always procrastinate it off, and do every little thing i could do just to not study...but when i finally buckle down and get to it, i spread out on the couch with what i need to study and listen to some phish or what not. Not anything to distracting.
I have no idea. I never study. Which is why I usually get C's and only A's and B's in easy classes that I am good at, like Philosophy classes or Religion classes. I have never learned how to study.
I usually have to have music on when I study. I always keep an eye out for info that looks like it will be on the test. If I'm having a hard time concentrating I just masturbate. After an orgasm, my mind is always clear and relaxed and I have no problem studying. Also, short of adderall, you might check out DMAE. It's a supplement, and you can find it at any health food store next to the vitamins. I suggest trying it out. It helps me concentrate more and gets rid of some of the foggyness in my brain.
I can only study for 45 minutes at a time. Then, I usually take a 15 to 20 minute break then go back to studying.................... ~namaste~
hey wow thanks people.. i think i know what im going to do today.. im going to go to the pharmacy and get some photos developed and then go to a cafe and try to soak it up and then i'll go and get my photos back and then go home adn study and then play games and then study.... i need a bit of reward before and after whatever i do.. i have biology (SUPER SUPER BORINGG EWW), physical sciences- actually no that already passed, but i have math which i really am afriad for and then i have one other course i cant remeber..
I am a nerd so here it goes: If my class is going to start a new chapter, the night before I skim the chapter and make notes from it. Then, when the instructor goes over the chapter in class, I already have most of the notes written down, and just add whatever the instructor adds. Then, I do whatever homework is assigned. So, I've already gone over the material three times. Then, come test time, I reread my notes and viola! I ace the test every single time. I never have to really "study" right before a test because I go over everything so much while we're discussing the material before-hand, I know the stuff...not just memorizing it, but really KNOWING it. With classes like calculus and chemistry (or other math-type classes) I just work the problems over and over again.
hmm. i like that i like that. but what about for things like biology? what do you do? edit- what aobut trying to review for a christmas exam in biology? and having to meorize 16 administrative regions of quebec and all their capitals? what woudl you do?
Take 4 of them, and repeat them until you know them. Then try the next 4. Now repeat all 8 that you've done. Then move on to the next 4. And then the next 4. If you have lists of things or information, break them up into smaller groups. Making acronyms out of lists also help me remember them. I had to do a lot of that in my Communications Theory class last semester. Hope this helps.
