this is the first chapter of a book/short story (depending on how long it is in the end) im writing called Bob. I think its better to let you read than explain what its about. I haven't proofread yet, so grammar will most likely suck.

    Prologue

"Poor old Robert. He wanted it so much. He was so close too. If it weren’t for that damned thing. Now we’re both going to be killed by whatever the hell that thing is. It all began when we were working at his lab..." thinks a ferret named Scufy.

    Chapter 1

"Get out of the way Scufy!" screamed Robert as he lunged a wire into the socket I had been pleasantly sleeping on but a moment ago. "Let my creation be!" my half-insane master yelled at the gods.

Electricity flew all of the room, and I barely got under the table without my fur catching on fire. My master was in full swing today, leaping all over the place checking switches and flipping monitors. He was wearing a white trench coat covered with coffee stains and soy sauce. At some point he seemed to fly with the electricity, and if you saw his eyes you would know why.

Then I heard something which could only be bad. A large snap and a bolt goes flying straight at me, then I blacked out.

"Wake up Scufy" my master said to me as he prodded me with his finger, which I promptly bit. "Bah! Guess you’re alright then. Damn machine broke. We’ll definitely need to get a denser metal for the casing..." he vainly tried to explain to me.

I often wondered why he tried to explain things to me. I’m a fricken ferret, what the hell do I care about positronic molecularing allowriffic megadusters? Whenever he talks like this all I can think about is how he always cuts that one part of chin when he shaves, its not like he ever gets that close with the razor anyway. At least he has a good pair of shades. Nice dark rectangle shades attached to the thickest oak frames I’ve ever seen, and im a ferret who’s seen a lot of thick oak frames on glasses.

"...lets go." Robert says as he put me on his shoulder.

Crap! I have to pay attention, now I have no idea where we’re going.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

We arrived at some shoddy factory with a huge symbol of a cyborg holding a sledge hammer. Inside there were a thousand robots working on metal sheets, making them tougher, stronger, fire resistant, dent avoiding, non rusting, Thor couldn’t strike a dent in them strong, good enough for a ferret’s suit of armor. Security started walking toward us when Robert gave me the signal.

I leaped from his shoulder to one of the guards faces, giving Robert enough time to take out his pistol and shoot the other two guards. I proceeded to hang on to dear life as the armed guard tried to force me from his face. Robert proceeded to make his way to a room in the back, which had a sign on it telling everyone to stay the hell out politely. I heard a few gunshots and Robert came running out with a large sheet of metal that looked like a flexible sheet of granite. He grabbed me off the guard, then pointed his pistol at the guards crotch and warned him not to come after us.

We got in the van and drove back to the machine. Robert was still pretty pissed about the previous failure, but who could blame him. He done far too much for this machine to fail now. All the people he has killed and backstabbed just to get the materials, not to mention the years its taken him to research and design the damned thing. Poor guy would do anything to complete that machine.

We got back, and Robert immediately got to attaching the new metal to the machine. I decided to take a walk outside, as it could take a while.

For the most part, it had been a sunny day, but I noticed that a few clouds began to form in the sky. Then a few claps of thunder were heard in the distance. Soon it was raining lightly, and lighting struck the lake by the machine a few times. I heard Robert say something, but I was too intrigued by the storm. The rain began to become much heavier, and lighting was striking multiple times all over the lake. The sky was a deep purple color, and the sun was completely blocked out. Winds picked up, and small cyclones formed on the lake’s surface. Master was screaming at me, but this was far too intriguing. The cyclones began merging into one gigantic swirling mass of water, and lighting was traveling through it so often that it seemed a constant stream that illuminated it, yet the rain was so heavy and the clouds so dark that the illuminated swirl was all that I could see. At that point master grabbed me and showed me the machine.

"Look at it Scufy! Look at the machine that will bring me absolute power, that will let me see all that will happen, that will let me rule the entire universe!" he screamed at me in delight, pointing at the machine.

From the top of the machine a beam shot out the seemed to be causing the unnatural nature associated events on the lake.

"Quickly, to the screen." he told me as we ran towards the huge flat-screen he set up on one side of the machine.

    ----------------------------------------------------

We watched the screen with awe as it began to show us what would happen. All events of great importance would show there, everything that Robert would need to control this and every other galaxy.

It started with snow, as it always did, but this time it began to become clearer. One the bottom of the screen, it said what time in the future it was showing. Slowly images started to form, and we saw numerous of shadows on a planet. The shadows were large beasts, and they looked like they were performing some kind of ritual. There was one robed person on a hill that looked like a gnome. He was chanting something, and chalk drawing on the surface of the planet began to glow. As the image became clearer, I saw chains attached to all of the beasts necks, all attached to a staff. The staff was stuck in the ground next to the gnome.

Then the gnome reached out his hand. He screamed something in a bizarre language, and light shot out of his palm. The light formed a ball in the sky. It began to grow exponentially, and it was destroying everything it touched. The gnome and all the monsters were already engulfed in the powerful light. Soon it was growing at disturbing rates, and the entire planet was destroyed.

We watched as it engulf entire galaxies, within seconds it could destroy a hundred planets. And it wasn’t stopping either. It only went faster, nothing could prepare for it, and they probably couldn’t stop it if they did. Then we looked at the bottom of the screen. It said that it was showing what would happen three weeks from now.
