I went out earlier and did a night time nude hike. For the most part I loved it! Towards the end I didn't like it. Coyotes. When you get two or more together, they will harass people/larger game and possibly even attack it. This time two got within 15-20 meters of me and they were looking right at me. They followed me for a bit as I headed back to my truck. Not good. I was thinking I might end up as a snack for these two.
While I've never had the nerve to go nude hiking seriously I have done many long strolls along stretches of clothing optional beaches. Furtive walking at night is from my mind a rather pointless exercise whereas walking clothes free in warm sunshine feels glorious. What deters most of us is the reaction we might get when we happen to meet others who could be offended rather than any shyness about being seen. On a long beach I know that nudity is expected and it doesn't matter whose path I may cross. On a country path unless I can see for miles I just don't know who may be around and how they would react to unexpectedly seeing a naked man strolling towards them. Bum bags strategically positioned can be useful to shield any offending bits from view if you cannot grab your shorts quickly enough.
We don't have Coyotes here. So naked hiking is pretty safe ;-) Just did last weekend in a little group of five at wonderful weather. Great time!
Haven't done nude hiking, but I loved barefoot hiking in the dark. It has a great ability to reconnect your tactile senses since you can't use your eyes. I think nude would be similar, feeling your way around.
this did remind me of my second time at the nude beach. i was all alone and i had a 20 oz water bottle filled with flavored vodka. i decided to go find the wild horses so as i walked i got hot and jumped in the water i got out of the water and then i saw them. so i walk over to the horses and tried to pet them but they wanted nothing to do with me and my naked self. so i gave up and sat down back at the beach. the vodka kicked in and i passed out. i came to and it was dark out. i could see the lights to the city across the island and realized i never walked to the end of the beach so thats what i did. i got to the end of the beach and climbed on the rocks there. my naked skin rubbed up against one of the rocks and the pain was enough to realize this was a bad idea so i started heading back. in the dark with nothing but moonlight and some slight lights from the city a few miles to the north i walked looking for the bag with my clothes and car keys. let me tell you, it dosnt get to much scarier then having no clothes and no way to get home..oh yeah and no phone either being i put it in my shoe the last i remember. the next ten minutes all i could think of was what do i do? do i get a park ranger and have them take me home. do i ask a stranger for a ride, or to use their phone and call a family member although none were within 150 miles from me. it is a big relief when i found that bag with my shorts and keys in it...a big relief, i didnt even care that i left my shoes down the beach where i also wont be able to see them or that i dont know where my phone or zune is. turns out my phone was in the bag and i tripped over one of my shoes. the zune was a loss i will have to replace but i feel nothing but luck that the only thing i lost during that blackout was a zune and a sock. note to anyone that drinks a lot, eat lots of food or you will regret it. i wish i could walk naked around here but there are no open woods. its just houses and yards and farms.
Good thing you didn't start running! That's why whenever someone kicks a stray dog, they always end up as meat! I'm pretty sure...
I absolutely love nude hiking. It's one of my favorite nude activities! I am however very selective in where I do it so as to minimize my chance of getting caught since it would be a jail sentence around here. As with any hike, you have to be careful, most especially if alone. I always make a point that someone knows where I will be and when I expect to be back.
I started barefoot hiking this year and really enjoy it. I'd definitely try nude hiking in a suitable location, especially if I had someone to go with.
I have never done a proper nude hike. I walked about a mile once between two nude beaches and the freedom of nude walking is wonderful.
Out there, almost no problem. I did a few more since then, and the skeeters were a problem for a bit. Through I confess that the feeling of getting bit did sometimes feel good (am I turning into one of them, now?).
I love hiking, and I love running around in the buff, but for some reason it's never occurred to me to combine the two. I did strip naked in Death Valley once, but that was just because it was so hot.
