Best and worst covers of all time

    Cover versions are a part of life. Sometimes they become the staple of the song (like The Mighty Quinn, Black Magic Woman or Rockin All Over the World) and sometimes they are just terrible.

    My vote for WORST cover of all time....Celine Dion and Anastacia's version of the AC/DC classic You Shook Me All Night Long. It's on Youtube if you're brave enough.....

    Best is a little trickier. Maybe Cocker's WIth a Little Help From My Friends? Or Zappa's (many) covers of Whipping Post?

    The first half of Tina's version is one the best covers of all time.
    The second half is one of the worst covers.

    I'm sure if I really sought to find some bad covers I could find worst but my least favorite cover from a band that I otherwise enjoy is A Perfect Circle's cover of John Lennon Imagine.

    so many bad ones... britney spears doing '(i can't get no) satisfaction'...dmb doing 'all along the watchtower'... bowie and jagger's 'dancing in the streets'...

    there's a few good ones... phish's covers of 'crosseyed and painless' and 'roses are free' are phenomenal... buckley covering cohen's 'hallelujah' is probably tops in my book, though.

    I have a handful of favorites. Funny enough watchtower by dmb is one of them.
    Cherub rock by razed in black
    dead souls by nin
    andy warhol by stp
    and pictures of matchstick men by camper van beethoven
    worst ones are tough because I wont listen to them.
    i know ozzy and the guy from type o negative ruined the matchstick song.
    and ice cube failed to do justice to should I stay or should I go.

    OMG I know, isn't this just... IDK it's beyond words! Watching (and listening) to this has made me laugh (because it's such a pathetic attempt), but it has almost totally ruined the song for me, even when I listen to the original!

    That's not too uncommon.....

    Sublime added a verse to scarlet begonias.

    Sublime did a lot of covers, and I think I like all of them except stepping razor.
