tree planting

i've got a friend who is out in the woods in northern bc/northern alberta and i'm getting together a care package for him.

for those of you who have done the tree planting thing before - what would you appreciate getting? right now i'm thinking cigars, a hand-powered LED flashlight, and a few joints. what else should i add?

 

Maybe one of those wind-up radios that don't need batteries?

 

i thought about that, but he doesn't get any radio stations up there apparently.

 

ended up sending him a couple of pens, a few weed cookies, a few joints, a wind-up flashlight, some AA and AAA batteries, a few condoms, and a couple other things that i forget now. and a letter, of course.

aligators,black widows,many kinds of poisonous snakes (eastern diamondback/coral snake to name a few) brown recluse spiders, scorpions (rare),bum camps full of drunks,cockroaches live in the wild here, well anywayz, yeah its nutz. yes i camp out here (bumlife!!). well whatever just giving you the heads up i guess

well he's with a group of other people. gets paid $0.10/tree, plants around 2000-2500 on a good day.

oop/ I just made a thread about this. Lucky bastard. I only get paid 8 cents, but I can plant way more than 2500 trees though.

And you definitely need condoms and weed.

The most important thing to have (that is aside from all the standard gear) is beer, weed, condoms, duct tape (I went through about 50 rolls), some sort of waterproof, durable ipod speaker system (no radio), white dress shirts and as many pairs of wool socks as possible

 

it's not so hazardous here (aside from the rough terrain, tendonitus, broken ankles/wrists, etc.), but we do have brown recluses. My buddy got bit by one and had serious flesh eating disease on his leg. We had to force him to go to the hospital on his day off though, because he wanted to keep planting trees.

Aside from that, though, we just got fucked with by a lot of bears./ had to shoot a few.

 

This is going to sound kind of dumb but foot and hand care product as planting is hard on hands and feet. So powders, creams, antiseptic products and bandages and such. Hope this helps; oh also try this website its very good www.replant.ca
