VAST numbers, countless numbers ... LOL http://santacruz.patch.com/articles...more-undiscovered-drugs-than-stars-in-the-sky
That's beautiful I'd always thought that the chemical possibilities are essentially endless. So many receptor sites and actions too . . .
I like how they included the pharmacology side of psychedelics, instead of bashing them as "drugs". Extremely good article and I am looking forward to all the new psychedelics to come in my life time.
It's rolling on like a tide in these times. When I read the substances that people have taken - like in the tryptamines thread, I'm mindblown. The future is now. To have been alive in the 60s and now! What kind of timing is that!
Great post! Yeah, I was discussing with my friend the other day that the government loses if they keep their anti-drug strategy up. They simply cannot ban every god damn compound under the sun trying to prevent us from opening our minds further!
Ive had a feeling for a long time that another psychedelic revolution is going to happen (or happening already)
It will be exponential in the way that all technology is. Look at computers and how they have evolved. Soon we will look back on the quaint old days of Pihkal and Tihkal when we only knew a few dozen psychedelic compounds. We keep unlocking entire new series of psychoactive chemicals . . . in the last few years alone we've gotten a whole spectrum of cannabinoids, MDxx and cathinones like Methylone and Mephedrone, Methoxetamine and PCP analogues from the cyclohexamines, now the nBOME series . . . it will continue at a terrific pace.
Sure, but is this a new topic or are you confused about the previous one doesn't matter what part of the brain they effect psychedelic = mind manifesting although since infinity can be a subset of infinity, and we are essentially talking about an infinite number of potential psychedelics, you could also reasonably assume that there will be essentially an infinite amount of "real" psychedelics (aka serotonin binding entheogens)
i'm not confused. i know i'm too picky about what i consider to be a psychedelic. but what if you come up with a great idea to be nicer to your fellow humans and to become a better person while on cocaine? would you call that mind manifesting? what about an intense dream that changes some part of your psyche? in my "elite" group of psychedelics, i would let MDMA and maybe even methylone sneak in (based only on what i've read). but mephedrone seems much more like a straight up stimulant. and MXE et al. are more precisely defined as dissociatives...which i suppose are a subgroup or something of psychedelics. this is all just semantics, and not all that important, i'm just rambling and don't forget about the infinite number of compounds that turn out to be inactive, there are a few of those in PiHKAL and TiHKAL
Well you know the renaissance is widely viewed to have been sparked and fueled by the sudden popularity of Coffee in europe. Suddenly everyone is sitting around, trying this new drink, staying up way later than they ever had, in coffee houses and discussing philosophy and science, and boom, you have yourself a cultural and scientific revolution. dreams are the EPITOME of psychedelic the terminology we use is very inconsistent. i am guilty of it too. in this discussion i am including things like cocaine in the psychedelic camp, but if i asked someone i had just met "have you ever done any psychedelic" and they answered "just cocaine", i would assume they didn't know what i meant (classical serotonin acting psychedelics). So there's the "big P" Psychedelic and the "little p" psychedelic. in my elite group of psychedelics MDMA just barely doesn't make it in. It would be standing just outside the group. its in a very close, and often overlapping group called "entactogens", of which it is practically the only member.
I remeber when you used to include MDMA as a psychedelic. Surely at least MDA and MDEA would be grouped within whatever category MDMA is in. As far as psychedelics, the compounds that I can recall off the top of my head that have had comparisons drawn to MDMA: 2cb, 2cc, 2ce, 2ci, 2ct7, aMT, 5-meo-dmt, 5-meo-mipt, 5-meo-dipt, LSA, 25I-nbome, 25C-nbome, LSD, mescaline... MDMA has become one of the psychedelics as a bar for comparison, as mentioned in the article in the OP.
