I'm curious. How many of you have an STD, and which type? I heard once that 1 in 4 people have Herpes! Just curious... Voters names will not be shown, don't worry.
just so you know, there's 2 types of Herpes, Genital, and Oral. Genital Herpes is the STD that doctors tell you to watch out for (it's incurable) Oral Herpes (i think it's still technically an STD), while also untreatable, is actually referred to as "cold sores" and that's prolly the one you heard about, and you can have it without ever actually having sex. (even from birth. i have Oral Herpes and i've had it since i was VERY young) anyway as i mentioned above, i only get the "cold sore" Oral version of Herpes. and i've had it since WAY before i ever had sex.
Well I would not consider that an STD unless it was trasmitted sexually. In your case I would vote "no STD". Thanks for the input!
i'd agree with you normally, but i believe it's technically defined as an STD. (you can get it from the birth process if the mother has it and dosn't do a c-section, or from kissing someone who has it, they generally need to have a visible cold sore though, but it is possible without one) hell HIV can be transmitted through a blood transfusion (this includes the cliche "blood brothers" handshake thing sometimes seen in movies and TV, which is more likely than a legitimate transfusion since blood banks don't take HIV blood if i recall) so you can get even that without having sex and it's still an STD. i believe it is possible to get genital herpes expressed as cold sores and vice versa however through genital/mouth contact if you're having an outbreak. i may be wrong on that though, but Genital and Oral Herpes are STILL different STD's
Don't worry this is not a scientic study and not going into any medical books. It's strickly a curiosity and therefore totally up to the person voting how they want to determine their own STD should be classified. Shingles is related to the herpes family but I wouldn't consider that an STD...
The Names May Not Be Visable To Members And Guests, But They Are To The Moderators And Website Administration. My Advice To Peeps Would Be, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS POLL.... KEEP YOUR PRIVATE MEDICAL DETAILS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR. Cheers Glen.
you, your doctor, and you PARTNER i should hope. it'd be really low not to disclose that you have an STD to someone you plan on sleeping with. and bescides, it's not like any of us know anyone's real name or anything, so it's still private in a way. and even so, that should really only matter if you've got something to hide or are ashamed of it.
I'm STD free and always have been. That is why it's hard for me to just have sex with a random person rather than being in love. I'm so afraid of getting a serious disease for the sake of a short time of pleasure.
