Meditation can improve your brain wiring with in a short period. Meditation helps us to reduce the learning time and also reduces your needs for sleep. It also helps in the treatment of many mental diseases.

Many things can be achieved with meditation, mainly reducing stress and anxiety by allowing you to relax, you can also reach a state of higher consciousness, along with lucid dreams or astral projection if done right

There isn't any real way to meditate, do whatever feels most comfortable for you, i prefer to just lay down... But look up some good techniques to help you reach your meditation goals

Meditation is a guitar tuning technique. A way to keep an edge on a blade. A chance to reset from environmental tug of war. A way to restore inner calm and balance.

It doesn't accomplish anything of itself, but it is a tool for you for achieving your long term goals without crashing and burning.

Also, it allows greater self awareness and knowledge. After several years of meditation you will not doubt or be confused about who or what you are, which will make you part of the point oh one percent of the world who actually lives in knowledge rather than superstition.

And also you will become more intuitive about your own needs and the needs of others and you will be better able to correct courses and prevent mishaps before they become big. That itself is worth any amount of time spend in silence.

One thing you will lose, and many people have a problem with it, is you will lose your identity as a small personality - a Rasta, a Christian, a Punk Rocker, and other cliches. You will become a wholeness and not subject to limitations. Which sometimes can be hard because other people live and die by their small identities. But you won't.

On the other hand, you will not just see the light, you will find out that you are one with it. How rare is that, as opposed to so many people who just talk about it without ever experiencing. Other people will be like the skinny dreaming of food while you'll be fat and have extra to spare.

There are tons of websites filled with information and techniques on how to meditate, along with a bunch of videos on youtube...

If you don't want guided meditation you can google "meditation techniques" and you'll find a lot, or if you decide you do want guided meditation but don't want to pay for discs, there are a bunch of free videos on youtube

Best to look for meditation groups near you and sit through a number of them until you find one that resonates. It's good to have some peers nearby because there are always more questions and you won't find useful answers from people who do other meditations. There are lots of meditations.

Meditation is the technique by which we become more aware of our bodies needs by being more sensitive to the present moment. There is a form of meditation which I have learnt that combines basic meditation, mindfulness and self-enquiry techniques. The teacher, Mark, offers Skype based training which is handy and the techniques are very simple and can be learnt in 4 sessions. if you want to take the learning further then Mark will guide you deeper into self-enquiry. Well worth checking out. You can find more information at:

Very simply you can start meditating by just sitting in a comfortable position and closing your eyes. Then start taking in long deep breathes in cycles of five to start with. You may want to say aloud "Thought come, thought go",as an exercize in trying to rid the mind of it's chatter.Try not to have any expectation of what you may or may not experience. It might help to gently try and concentrate you mind energy into the center of you forehead - but try not to force it.You may want to visualize a beautiful image such a flower or waves crashing on a beach. If you can focus on a single image this may help reduce the chatter.Try not to force yourself into long periods of meditation in the beginning of your practice. If you can only manage five or ten minutes in the beginning this is enough.Over time you can build up the duration of your sessions. Some people find find a guided meditation helps. There are many cds by the Buddhist monk Thic Nhat Hanh available which I personally use.Regular practice is better than infrequent long sessions.Try to see you practice as a time that is just for you,and as a space in which you can free yourself of doubt, comparison and self recrimination.I hope this helps you on your path.

Meditation is an attempt at a means to realize neither this nor that, everything and nothing.
