Not Very Happy

I am not very happy today because a lecturer told me off for coming late to a module that never happened because the two students who had to present in it did not appear as well. At leased one of them who was to present had told me that she is scared to death of him and therefore says nothing in class and the other one is a bit of a nutcase. I am the most devoted student and was sort of discouraged at being treated like that by him of all people. It makes me wonder whether it is ever even worth trying hard at anything at all.

 

its worth trying at what you're interested in. the question would be how dependent is the one on the other. perhaps this lecturer is him/her self not a happy camper, and fails to entirely understand why.

 

He is super unhappy and has to make such dark comments all the time. I wrote him a kind note though.

 

u seem to consider that the fact that u were late was unimportant... I'm not saying u should be punished because u were late, but i think a comment from the teacher is justified.

 

Maybe it is because he knows you are the most devoted student and you dissapointend him by being late?

Good question. I'm not exactly encouraged to do so. I just blasted him in a mail, since having my anger eat me up inside is not going to be very helpful to me.

It is not impostant that I came late at all, it simply was not right to come late. The problem is that anybody who wants to let out their frustration on you will not tell you that they are letting their frustration out on you, but they will always find small mistakes to justify their shouting at you.

The right response to such a situation is not to admit failure, because then you are telling someone that it is okay for them to use you as a punching bag for their personal problems. You must tell them that you know that they are bullying you, tell them to go to hell so that if they have personal problems they can go to the one who is responsble for thier anger or they will keep picking on you. That is what I did.

 

I think you're forgetting the fact that this person is in charge of your grade.

 

Not to sound mean, but u are being very unclear about what exactly happened.
U made a thread to say u were unhappy because a teacher commented on u arriving late in class, then u pointed out that that teacher is unhappy, then u said "You do not even know all of the things that I go through". And your last post answering my comment basically says that u're being severely bullied.

Maybe u should have started with "a teacher uncontrollably yelled at me, + he's been bullying me and verbally harassing me", instead of "i was late and he told me off".

 

Totally agree. You can't make a thread about being told off over being late and then expect us to know the rest of the story when we react to you being late. What else has this teacher done to make you believe you're being picked on or singled out?

I was the 3rd person to answer this thread, so yes, i read all of it.
Now if u read my previous post, u'll realize i never said that the thread doesn't make sense.
The only reason i pointed out that it was unclear was because the person started answering stuff like "u don't know the whole story, he's bullying me". It just sounded like the person should've started with that point instead of starting with a story in which they are simply late for class and the teacher told them off.

 

the teacher gets paid whether or not anyone is late

most teachers have superiority complexes ..yelling at students is just a spinoff turn on for them

but the teacher still gets a paycheck and your time was wasted so just like usual the student gets screwed

No, again you're obliviously missing the whole point. The information he gave, and his justifications made coherent sense on my end, and imo to anyone who isn't being a nitpicking B-word.

 

Perhaps the teacher was misplacing anger towards you because the two presenters did not show up and the class was cancelled.

Still you should have been on time. just sayin

 

a teachers main job is to educate young people in order to prepare them for the world outside of educational institutions.

in his role as someone with limited power and (probably) poor pay. he reacted in a tottally unreasonable way when you did something mildly wrong, attacking you in a way which seems completely disproportionate to your crime, probably as a result of his own anger and bitterness about his personal life.

what better education can there be?
