Has anyone else heard of this guy? An ex-cop who is now on our side, who shares some nice secrets about beating drug dogs and other tactics. It's a useful video series for anyone wanting to avoid being labeled as a criminal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZKhIdgwF7U"]01 - never get busted with pot again Introduction - YouTube
Yeah I've seen this many a times. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work the way you planned if the cops don't follow the books, but it's some useful information for protecting yourself against bullshit in the US of A.
I refused consent to search before, and that did work for me. The officer did everything in this video, became angry, yelled at me and told me it did not matter and he could look anyway, basically lying and hoping I would not stand my ground. But it worked, so it never hurts to try. Remember they have a dash cam, everything said is on camera, they get nervous around anyone who may know the law. Lawyers eat cops for breakfast, and if they think you can get one 9 times out of 10 that alone makes them back off.
Good for you! I've heard cops will go for it right away, and you literally have to go in the way and say no because they're allowed to if you don't stop them. I've heard the same thing about your door being open. I heard they can just walk right in if you don't stop them. Yeah, that is true as well, I've had some shitty encounters with cops (some of them my fault, some of them not) and as soon as I show them I know a little something, they back the fuck off.
^ Yes, what a cop is trying to do is trick you. Make you believe they are doing you a favor because they can look anyway so you should just let them, but in reality they need your consent. Your car is private property. But consent is as simple as you saying "ok", when they say "I am going to take a look in your car", or "you would not mind if I took a look in your car". Locking your doors makes them get a warrent/dog. It's a good idea.
This is some wording I've seen used before: "I'm going to have a look in your car, ok?" Which is pretty tricky because you think you don't have a choice, but in reality the "ok?" meant he was actually asking if he had permission... Sneaky bugers. Love the thing about the scent of the urine to deter the dogs.
