Dear President Bush, Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have learned a great deal from you and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them: 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not to Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states that he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that, even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there "degrees" of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them (Lev. 24:10-16)? Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws (Lev. 20:14)? I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging
That letter has been around for ages. It was first distributed (I think) when there was some scandal with Dr Laura being homophobic about 5 years ago. It's not new but its funny, nonetheless.
Wow! I never saw this one before. And I like it better now that it is addressed to Bush. Because I think he is much more retarded (and dangerous) than Dr. Laura ever was (and that's really saying something! LOL.). I'm gonna have to pass this one on to some of my lefty friends. Thanks for letting me know about this! Peace, ~PD
I'm not sure I understand your question but the impetus behind Dubba's homophobic attitude is biblically related & his "moral agenda" is due to his born again belief & connections to evangelests. I suppose I should add that I know that there are Christians who aren't homophobic but this is refereing to those who use their religion as an instrument of hate & bigotry. All of the things refered to are also true. You really can find them in the bible. I always remind a born again of them when they are ranting at me that I am a sinner while wearing their cotton/ poly blend shirt with their clean shaven face & cut hair.
Hey SnowDancer, I for one am totally glad you posted this. Cuz I somehow missed it the first time around. And for the clueless ones that think the morally and ethically bankrupt George W. is not worthy of any of the criticisms in your post. All I can do is sit here and silently say: WTF? So George W. (apart from being the greediest man alive) is seemingly delusional too? Cuz he seems to be suffering from one of the weirdest Jesus Complexes I have ever heard of. How could anybody in their right mind consider Bush a serious Christian? I mean, don't get me wrong. I have nothing but respect for Christ. And the same goes for Buddha. But since George W. is twisting around the Bible to suit his own warped purposes, let's take a little look at some of the wonderful things that Christ tried to teach the world through his LOVING example. Something that Bush seems to have conveniently chosen to ignore. Christ was in the habit of loving the poor and disadvantaged. Big time. While George W. deliberately made it possible for the poorest of the poor to lose their desperately needed health care, and seems to have a special kind of hatred for the homeless and chronically mentally ill in our "Christian" country. I mean, I have watched the homeless situation triple in my big little town ever since Bush broke into the White House the first time. And it seems like there's at least one more suicide here every week (we got lots of bridges in my city) because somebody that has lost their therapist, subsidized housing, and/or meds can no longer live with all the human pain and suffering. So George W. is walking in the footsteps of Jesus, huh? Jesus was in the habit of showing friendship and compassion towards prostitutes, thieves, and other so-called sinners. While George W. has made it a crime to be poor and homeless in this country, and singles out gay folks when he's all set to use that precious little Good Book of his as a weapon (I mean, does he only read the parts that help him the most? Even when it means hurting some of the most vulnerable people in our not so fair country?). George W. is a man that has fallen in love with war. Period. It makes him feel like his balls are bigger than anybody else's. It allows him to give the finger to anybody he feels threatened by, or does not have the mental or moral capacity to understand. Paying for it with all the funds he has taken away from the sick and abjectly poor in this country. And when another young American soldier is shipped home in a government issued coffin, or we hear about even more innocent women and children slaughtered because they were a bit too close to the latest war zone, what is his response? He cuts more services needed by the poor HERE, and goes on national television to brag about what a kick ass kinda guy he is. Oh, and that he's a Christian. LOL. Jesus always talked about the importance of truth. That is a word that seems to make George W. literally cringe. And every time somebody that is more intelligent than he is (and actually has a conscience) challenges him about his increasing number of lies, his response is to resort to "cute" grade school level sarcasm. I mean, in a way, it really is a good thing that Jesus doesn't have a grave, huh? Because he would be turning over in it big time. Again, I am glad you posted your insightful (and 100%) true letter to Bush. And the only folks that don't wanna take a long honest peek at this letter..... are the ones walking around with their blinders on. Cuz it suits their rather selfish (and not very Christian) purposes to do so. Peace, ~PD
