Some of you may have heard of new bills passed in Canada to allow gay support groups in schools. Well, the one at the school I was just attending is getting downright offensive. Now, I have mixed opinions on terms like "fag", "that's gay" and "no-homo", but honestly I don't see them as a problem like these people do (majority of the meetings have at least part of them devoted to whining about that stuff). I also see lots of hate being projected back on the supposed "gay haters", when sometimes those "gay haters" are just being ignorant or using words in a different context. This makes me get the image that Gay Pride is similar to some Nazi movement in the sense that you're parading around being proud of something you're born with, and if somebody doesn't agree with it, then watch out! The group also had a religious speaker (this is a public school) up during an assembly speaking about how Christian anti-gay views are wrong, and compared them to the ridiculousness of clothing or shellfish abominations... Anybody else see anything wrong with having a god damn religious speaker speaking to a whole school that's supposed to have any views they want? Oh, and the final thing that made me leave the group was them trying to get my to sign a petition to have these groups and talk in Catholic schools. I laughed at the straight student council president and walked out... I find this an attack on freedom of speech, not encouragement of it! People don't HAVE to like or accept gays (not saying those people should go around insulting others or being dicks), and they shouldn't be regarded as assholes or monsters for their beliefs. Thank you...
